Fox 8 just showed a graph that the majority of cases in Louisiana are between the ages of 40-49, however there’s over 100 cases effecting people over the age of 60 which is the most at risk.

Sure they are more at risk . But everyone is at risk . May not be severe but you can give it to someone to which it can be severe is my point . Just bc you are in college and may not see Grammie as another poster said , doesn’t mean a LOT of school age kids don’t see parents and grandparent daily

They’re talking about this CDC study right now on Fox News. Seems the OP left out a key detail. This study also showed the mortality rate in this 20-54 age group is less than 1%.

Because death is not the only implication of this virus. Overwhelming hospitals with people who are deathly ill but ultimately recover is still a trouble.

Imagine this headline instead. Only less than 200 people aged 20-54 were hospitalized from the Corona virus. Using % shows nothing except gives people the idea that 38% of the POPULATION is being hospitalized. People aren't grasping the tiny numbers and the media/govt are taking full advantage of it.
I guarantee you if you ask 100 Americans if you think they will likely catch CV, you'll have over 50% say yes. And yet even in Italy it's more like .06% of their population infected.

I'm for using all measures possible to beat this thing, I'm not a denier, but even I can tell that this is complete horseshite of a targeted age range to show a certain narrative.
Why the need to minimize it? This thing is a train wreck. And a lot has to do with he deniers as much as the hysterical.

If you’re worried about hospitals being overwhelmed, you shouldn’t be looking at the age breakdown of those requiring hospitalization. The numbers you need to look at are (1) total number of cases versus (2) cases that require hospitalization.

The point of looking at the age breakdown is to say that it's not just old people being hospitalized. This is not just affecting old people. Its causing people of many age groups to be hospitalized, so stay the frick indoors and stop spreading the virus.
