The news is going to blame everything on rural white Americans. But the reality is that they are more likely to have been vaccinated than African Americans. And Louisiana has a large black population, so you should expect its numbers to lag.

Rural whites have been ridiculed by the our media and entertainment industry a lot lately. They see a lot of people with their world view be target of cancel culture and social media bans while also being ridiculed as conspiracy theorists. It wasn't long ago that the idea that the origins of Covid-19 might have come from a research lab was dismissed as pure conspiracy "nonsense". A media that does that while reporting on "firey but mostly peaceful" protests, "Russian Collusion", and "the most transparent election ever" is not worthy of being trusted.
It would help society if more of them got vaccinated, but I can see why there is still some skepticism and reluctance. They simply don't trust the media and our government. Can you blame them?
And I think it's also plainly obvious that blacks have even more reason not to trust their government. Which explains why they are even more likely to avoid the vaccine than rural white Americans.
