Causeway speeding ticket help

Got a speeding ticket on causeway heading into Mandeville. Called the courthouse in Covington and asked about traffic school or similar to have the ticket changed to a non-moving violation to keep off my insurance but the extremely intelligent woman on the phone said there's nothing I can do to have it changed to a non-moving violation.
This can't be correct? Or is it?
Thanks in advance for any helpful advice. Much appreciated

It won't really affect your insurance that badly unless you have a history of speeding tickets. If you do then you probably should get a rate hike.

You need to contact the ADA on traffic court for the week you're scheduled for

Depends on how many tix you got and how recently. Also on how fast you were above the limit....15-20 above the limit won't help.
All else fails contest the ticket and hope for the best!! Frick contest regardless!

And you came to the OT for a second opinion?
You deserve another ticket for being stupiter.

Go to court. I've had a judge offer to reduce a speeding ticket to a non-moving in exchange for paying the fine and not getting any other traffic violations for 6 months.
As for your insurance, its pretty unlikely your current insurance company will find out about it. They'd have to run an MVR report to find out about any new traffic violations, and those MVR's aren't cheap so insurance companies don't run them often for existing customers. Now if you were trying to switch companies or let your insurance lapse and had to get a new policy, they'll be running a new MVR and know about your ticket.

True, but they'll run one before renewal. It will get caught eventually.

Talk to either the District Attorney for that parish or possibly the City Commissioner depending on the location of the ticket.
Sometimes you can get a lower rate for the ticket and also get a non-moving violation switch (like a previous poster said).
Rule of thumb, if its lower than 200.. it is usually worth it to just pay it off.
I recently just bought a radar detector, you might be interested in getting one as well.

Hire a lawyer...there are many that will have that done for a few hundred bucks. They have the pull, not you...and they charge for that.

Before renewal once every 3-4 years maybe. Unless there's been an accident, then they may run it sooner. But the reports are expensive to run, DMV charges $18.50 per driver IIRC...which is why the insurance companies don't run them every renewal.

The courthouse or the DA?
In Jefferson Parish I called the DA and said I was pay the fine, would like to just keep it off my record. They had me send in the ticket and the fine, and the ticket went away.
They really just want the money.

People who get speeding tickets on the Causeway are maroons.
If you aren't paying attention to where the crossovers are you probably aren't paying attention to the road.
