recently just bought a radar detector, you might be interested in getting one as well.
Radar detector isn't even necessary when driving the Causeway. Causeway might be the only stretch of 22 mile road where there will absolutely be at least 2 intervals of cops shooting radar before you get through it. Its a guaranteed ticket if you're speeding 5+ miles over the limit.

You have zero clue as to what you're talking about.
MVR and Clue reports are run at renewal for all customers. Only credit reports on typically run on that lengthy 3-4yr basis and it's for certain types of risks to begin with.
MVR's are i believe 36 bucks now, b/c i get dinged with them every once and a while.

DMV charges $18.50 per driver IIRC...which is why the insurance companies don't run them every renewal.
While they may be expensive, they company is playing the numbers on possible violations and then it grants them ability to surcharge and easily compensate for that expenditure.

Maybe whatever company you write for runs MVR's every renewal, but the 3 companies I write for don't run them that often. But hey, I only have a $2M book of P&C business, what do I know?

The courthouse or the DA? In Jefferson Parish I called the DA and said I was pay the fine, would like to just keep it off my record. They had me send in the ticket and the fine, and the ticket went away. They really just want the money.
I called the number on the actual ticket and told them exactly what you said and she knew "nuffin".
Obviously I was speeding and in the wrong but was I going 80? No. I always set my cruise control to 68 on causeway. Three cars came flying in front of me and slowed down right when the speed limit drops exiting the bridge on the Northshore. The causeway policeman came flying up behind me after I was off the bridge at the light on Monroe street. Clocked me going 10 over the exit speed limit. Gave me an improper lane usage too for "not using my blinker when pulling over" which is BS since I put my hazards on. I truly believe I could win if I contested but I don't want to spend the time nor the extra money to fight it if I can just pay the $400 and it not affect my insurance rates.
Thanks to all with serious answers.
Oh yeah I completely forgot he had me get out of my truck and gave me field sobriety tests. It was around 1pm on a Tuesday and he had ZERO reason to suspect I wasn't sober. Offered to take a breathalyzer and he told me to shut up. And I fully support and respect our law enforcement. Either he was having a bad day or is a complete douche

Stop breaking the law a-hole....

Hope you didn't act badly at all when he was issuing the ticket and testing you because they will write notes on the ticket going to the prosecutor for things like that. Acting a fool will get you no help at all.

I can assure you I treated him with the utmost respect and besides me saying that about the breathalyzer it was only yes sir and no sir for everything. I haven't had a speeding ticket in a decade

won't really affect your insurance that badly unless you have a history of speeding tickets. If you do then you probably should get a rate hike.
This is dumb. Always fight the ticket.

Don't speed. Pay the fine.

Call any traffic atty and pay $200 in legal fees, and $200 for a nonmoving violation, and keep it off your record. Also you can kiss your good driver discount bye bye for insurance if you plead guilty to speeding.

Recently I contested a 55mph in 40 speeding ticket in JP (4 lane on Airline before parish line is only 40mph SMH). Here is the play by play how my pre-trial meeting with ADA went:
ADA: Mr. SteveD00?
Me: Yes mam
ADA: I can knock your speeding ticket down to a no brake tag.
Me: Ok
ADA: Great
Me: Thanks
Lawyering is f'ng easy!!

This is an excellent way to flag yourself for the DA's "no deal of a non-moving violation like everyone else will get"/"plead guilty or go to trial"/"enjoy the insurance hike" list.
But I have no doubt you'd waltz in there and convince the judge the radar was off by at least 10mph..in the direction you need it to be in.

Try this. A state trooper actually told me this on the side of the road once after writing me a ticket for 83 in a 70. I tried it, and he was right. No class, no 6 month promise, just "Hey, is there any way that I can just pay this, but keep it off my record?"

Yea, the good neighbor definitely doesn't do that. Don't talk out of your arse. In fact, there are some states where they don't run mvr at all. They are moving more towards rating based of credit to predict your risk.
