They paid to have the service by a priest based in a church with a set of beliefs.

Hate to tell them, but suicide is a mortal sin and as there is no chance for absolution through confession, it is the teaching of the Church that the gates of Heaven are barred.

Frankly, I am amazed they even allow suicides to have Catholic funerals.

If you decide to hold ceremonies in the Catholic Church, I think it would be reasonable to follow the catholic teachings.

Why do people expect a religious leader to shut their faith off and give niceties instead of a faith based approach to things? I don’t get this. Just hire a funeral home and let whoever speak, but don’t expect a person of deep conviction to shut their faith off and give you what you want to hear, in rubber stamping shite for you with their religion.

To be fair, that’s probably not the worst thing he’s ever done to the boy...

Oh for frick's sake...

I am not here to be a cheerleader for the RCC, but don't get your panties in a twist and all outraged about the fricking doctrine of the faith.

Whether priest have (or do) molest altar boys has NOTHING to do with the teachings of the Church.

But if asked then it is a major sin all Christians believe in.

One, no sin is greater than the other in the eyes of the Lord. Two, I may be wrong, but I haven’t seen the verse about suicide. I’ve seem thou shalt not kill but I’m pretty sure that’s in reference to another human being. Three, just because one commits suicide does not bar them from heaven provided they’ve accepted Christ as their lord and savior

And perhaps that priest should have been up on current Catholic viewpoints. You may want to look them up yourself.

That priest should just kill himself.

The whole church is based off of what a council decided would be the best for controlling the population anyway.

So is lust. So if you’ve ever thought sexual thoughts about a woman, then you had better go to confession or you’re going to hell.

Oh, and before all my fellow Catholics decide that one who commits suicide is automatically damned in the eyes of the church, you should check your catechism. Not the one I learned in the late 50s and early 60s, the new one.
