Poor kid.

An overbearing mother and a lack of athletic talent.

A lot of people mentioned it, but so many people read this site, it's crazy. I got annoyed by this LSP cop that was supposed to be processing my CCW application. She hadn't done anything for like 9 months and I started a rant on the OB. She called me the next day and told me not to bitch about her on the internet

My rant worked because she signed off on my background checks the next day

That's a common occurrence there. Almost the same thing happened in my family and others of whom I have first-hand knowledge.
Basketball at Catholic is ALL about politics.
I can't stand that place.

Or maybe the kids you'really referencing aren't good enough? I hear this everywhere. This is high school, not every kid is gonna get to play. Coaches are judged on wins and developing talent. Hard to do if the player in question doesn't have any actual talent

You can say whatever you want but it's easy to say if you haven't experienced it first-hand.
I know what I'm talking about.

As a coach, I can tell you that talent triumphs over non talent. Politics is a nice excuse though for trying to get a participation trophy for your young one though

I'm sure its hard to accept that his kid sucks, but hus kid sucks. Mainly because his dad is a giant pussy. Some people are better at science and books than sports, the problem is accepting it and admitting your kid sucks at athletics.

The poor kid is going to get annihilated for this. Like I can almost guarantee there are links to that post going around on FB, IG & Twitter this morning amongst his classmates. What a mortifying thing for kids to endure this kind of embarrassment amplified by the Internet and social media.

All because the parent isn't capable of sophisticated thought and is unaware of just how unfair life can be.

So you sucked at basketball and couldn't make the team. You probably transferred to a smaller school and made the team and now you call the issue "politics" instead of realizing you weren't talented enough to play for a school with good athletes. There are a lot of people that go to catholic that are very talented in athletics or academics or other things. Not a lot of slackers to give guys like you a chance

So the head coach at a 5A school also coaches the 9 grade team? Lol.

Sounds like his son should be participating on a "Everybody Gets a Trophy" team.

I have dealt with this every since my kids were old enough to play sports. It really surprised me how daddy ball, buddy's and daddy's with the most money affect sports.

I could tell a lot of stories about seeing this first hand and not with just my kids, I helped coach baseball and football. It's not always parents that think their kids are superstars, some kids can't get playing time no matter how good they are. Some coaches won't play kids just because they don't like their parents.

This is high school sports, not 4th grade summer league baseball. In high schools sports at major athletic schools, coaches are paid to field the best team and win games. This coach isn't putting his arse on the line by not playing the best players

Wow what a whiny count of a parent. As an alum, I genuinely couldn't care less if the basketball team won the state championship or didn't win a single game - I'd consider the season a victory of someone punched that dad in the taint and told him to shut the frick up.

Not when it's in a small town. If you have money your kids will play a head of better kids or if the coach has some kid of personal grudge against the parents. I have seen kids ride the bench at one school and go be a star at another.

You have to be very naive to think this doesn't go on everywhere.

Not saying BR is NYC, but it isn't West Canaan either.
