Heard from my friend and she heard from Excellence Resorts. Cell coverage is out but they are all still in shelter. They are checking room by room for damage but they expect basic operations to be back up some time tomorrow. Hoping they can manage a flight out soon.

Thanks for this. We haven’t heard for our people there since about 4:30 yesterday afternoon.

So, how exactly would Great Britain giving aid to a former colony run counter to the Monroe Doctrine?

How would the UK helping a Commonwealth nation have anything to do with the Monroe Doctrine?

For your viewing pleasure.
I'm curious how that plane gets off the ground with the size and weight of the nuts on those people on there.
That was fake?

This storm is like a wildly fascinating horror show. I can't look away.

Heard from our family. They're back operational. It's very bad though. They're going to get to go to interior rooms about noon today and freshen up. I'd honestly feel better if they told them go freshen up, but everybody is sleeping in the shelter.
I called the Cajun Navy up and my call got directed to Todd Terrell. Told him where they were and how many Americans were there. He said they were on it.
fricking ridiculous that I can get a hold of the president of the Cajun Navy by just calling their damn hotline and have what I hope was an honest 5 minute conversation with him about what info he needed and what their plan is. And at the end he says text everything you know to this 225 number. It's my cell phone. Call me if you need anything else... And when I called the United States Embassy, I talked to someone not American that told me to call the Red Cross.

Wouldn’t hurt I guess. Your people need to pull any strings they’ve got with their representatives or senators.
They have power and WiFi for the time being, but not sure when the diesel in the generator is going to run out. And diesel is a major barrier down there to do anything right now. They had enough to run the entire resort for a little more than a day, but I think they’re confined to like 20-25% of the resort now looking at a map, so I don’t know how long the current somewhat stable situation is going to last.
The resort told them that if they had flights out of Kingston, they’d get them there. They have a flight for the 3rd through their representatives office for free, but we’re trying to pay move them up to Friday or Saturday.
I don’t know. Seems like it’s a decide if you go to get away from there before they run out of diesel and supplies or stay to wait for a more stable situation next week.
