Won a poker tournament once, about $5K. Thought I was hot shite. The next weekend, I played at the high-stakes table and lost it all in ~6 hours.

No story in particular, but how about that feeling when you're walking back to your car after losing your arse off? There's nothing worse than losing $300-400 on ice cold tables then having that long-arse walk of shame to the parking area.

See now that's what I'm talking about, an admission. And yes we all know that games are good around tournament time.

Ppl that are making ignorant comments don't understand that poker can be beat. That is if you have discipline and don't act like I did last night.

Anyone else with either win or loss stories? Craps is a dangerous game

I only play poker. In my experience the poker room is always non smoking, more quiet, and just a different feel from the rest of the casino.

I don't play any other games at all in a casino. Don't enjoy them.

Is it a 12 step system for winning? I love systems.

Systems are full proof.

The most I've lost in a session was about $500 playing poker. Since I live in south DFW now, I only play at card rooms and not the casinos. Going with a friend to Vegas for the first time in late August and will play some out there. So my story may change then.

vegas poker = NIT central

lots of old people and "grinders" who are there to accumulate comps and enjoy the low rake

How is it compared to Harrahs New Orleans? Every time I went there, it seemed like old people with too much money and time just giving it away.

nothing close, from what i've been told by people who have played both that i know irl adn on 2+2

LA-MS plays "big" with lots more gambling.

LV = NIT and more standard (aka smaller) opening, betting, etc

a $15 open in 1-3 here is standard (will even get 3-4 calls often) and in LV that's "AA/KK overbet to gtfo".

Been 20~ times or so, I go with 100$ and expect to lose it. I usually do.

Every now and then I win between 200-400.

I've never lost big at a casino. My first two years of high school were in Las Vegas.

I saw first hand how gambling by parents fricked up some of my friends lives. So I never really cared for gambling.

gambling is trashy no doubt

Have you ever gotten drunk or done drugs in you life? I'm willing to bet a lot of money that you have. Both of those are just as "trashy" as gambling.

My friend that I'm going with goes every year for a custom knife convention. He was there 2 yrs ago when a bad beat hit and just by sitting at a table around 9 am, he received $5k. Lucky bastard.
