i used to play pai gow in BR while waiting on poker tables at the belle. it's a legit 50/50 game if you don't play the bonus
i'd just dick off for a few hours knowing i wouldn't lose (or win) to occupy my time while waiting on the list

I play pai gow also but the house has a 5% edge on you by you having to pay commission when you win. You can play on your money a long time in that game though.

I was fresh out of law school and my dad and I were having dinner with Jack Binion in BR. My dad repped him in front of the Gaming Control Board.
Mostly small talk then Jack started talking about the casino business. He said "you are a smart young man let me ask you a question". "For every one dollar bill that come onto my property how many cents do I keep?" I thought maybe 35 40 cents but the way he asked the question I knew it would be high so I said 50 cents. Close, for every dollard that comes onto the property (not just the casino) he kept 70 cents.
Sobering.

oh casinos are the church of the irrational
i can't tell you how many times i've seen a guy playing poker get out-drawn and then get up and say "frick this i'm going to play slots". oh yeah that flush draw that hits 1/3 of the time is really a worse edge than what you'll face at the fricking slot machines

quote:I was not allowed to play blackjack in a casino in Irkutsk, Russia (Siberia) the night after I won $40 playing blackjack the night before. I guess if an American wins $40 playing blackjack there he must be cheating, right?

My casino story is a lot less depressing than most here.. one night, after about two hours I only won about $100 on the hold em table, so I took that and placed it on black and doubled up... then wound up hooking up with a drink lady in the bathroom outside of boomers
Didn't go back for about a year and a half

Even fricked up at the casino I always keep my money in my pocket for the most part but there is one area I simply wont go, the Baccarat table, not sure why but all control is lost in that area.
Maybe its the chinese guys yelling at each or the wads of cash.

Tunica, MS casinos slots are horrible these days...Oklahoma casinos slot machines pay out, I've won thousands up there on Money Bags and Lucky Ducky slots.
Cherokee, NC is alright too

I completely agree about Tunica. Most casinos there besides Horseshoe and Gold Strike seem to be about on their last leg.
