Send a Ford Class five miles off the coast and blow these frickers up. Then swoop in as the hero of Mexico, saving their people, while simultaneously planting roots in their government and take over their nation. Then use military resources from our newest state to take over Canada.

Violence by the cartels has spread all over the country. Mexico is now officially in a state of civil war.

You can't just kill the new leaders over and over and over on foreign soil until they just give up and stop the very lucrative drug trafficking business.

Why not? Hell, let's give that strategery a whirl. Can't be any less effective than what we've tried.

Don't think you realize just how embedded the cartel is at all levels of government throughout Mexico.

We were supposed to fly out tomorrow. As of now flights still showing good to go, but wife and I aren’t messing around with that. Trying to cancel resort…anyone have any luck or advice for how to extract a cancellation for situations like this? They’ve already taken ~33% of the total booking price.

This qualifies as a force majeure event (unforeseeable circumstances like civil unrest or security threats) under many booking policies, especially if the resort is in an affected area like Guadalajara or nearby. Hotels and booking platforms (e.g., Booking.com, Expedia, or direct) often allow full refunds or cancellations without penalty in such cases, particularly if backed by official travel advisories.

Here's a step-by-step approach based on standard practices:

(1) Review your booking terms: Check the cancellation policy on your confirmation email or the platform/app. Look for clauses on "force majeure," "civil unrest," or "government advisories." If it's non-refundable, these events can override that.

(2) Contact the hotel directly: Politely explain the situation, referencing the official US State Department advisory and airline cancellations. Provide links or screenshots of the warnings (e.g., from state.gov) and note that your flight is impacted or you're unable to travel safely. Emphasize that the violence is ongoing and unpredictable, making it unreasonable to proceed. Ask for a full refund or credit, and request a written confirmation if they agree.

(3) Escalate if needed: If the hotel pushes back, involve the booking platform (they often mediate). If booked via credit card, dispute the charge with your card issuer under "]services not rendered[/i]" or due to travel disruptions—many cards have built-in trip protection for this. If you have travel insurance, file a claim citing "civil unrest" or "evacuation advisory"; policies from providers like Allianz or World Nomads typically cover this.

(4) Document everything: Keep records of communications, news articles, advisories, and flight status to strengthen your case.

It seems like the cartel is destroying the city in retaliation to their leader being killed.

So long as they don't frick with the Punta Mita resort I'll be okay with this but if this delays them building my new place I'm going to be pissed. They are already 36 months behind.

Well that’s what animals do in nature when their leaders get taken out. The Cartel are no different, they shouldn’t even be considered human beings.

Does anybody know the meaning of the pink dragon or fish on ‘El Mencho‘s shirt? It looks kind of cool, like it might be some kind of lucky Asian symbol. Any idea what store he bought it from?

This happened in 93' at the exact same airport except it was Chapo Guzman and the Tijuana cartel.

It's not looking good for you.

Every airline has cancelled flights to PV and some other airports in Mexico. No flights coming in, means no flights to turn around with departures.

You are worried about the booking fee? You need to worry about not getting you and your wife murdered.

Legalize a few more drugs in the states? I’d be cool with anything that worked.

I would say more boots on the ground at the border but what do I know?

You should go. Tell the resort to give you a 50% discount and comp all your meals and drinks. You’ll probably have the resort all to yourself.

Don't worry, you can always find another way to overdose if that's your goal.
