I'm looking at going into accounting or going to law school after graduating undergrad. Anybody have any advice, tips, pros/cons, helpful websites for research to offer? I'm scheduled to graduate in May 2019 from LSU with a degree in accounting.
TIA

If you do go to law school, make sure you’ve done tons of research as to what it entails. It’s not as glamorous as it seems. Unless you can get into a top school, don’t waste your time.

Why on earth are you choosing law school if you have a degree in accounting?

Sit for the CPA exam after you graduate. Or you could get your masters and specialize in audit or something (IT/IS would be great) and then sit for the CPA exam.

You could easily be a CIA, CISA/CISSP with an audit/accounting background and make $$$$$. Plus, a lot of that work can be done remotely where you would have the option to have a flexible work environment.

Edit: You may be better off moving this to the Money Talk Board

You should focus on Accounting and land a job at a major casino in Las Vegas in a fiscal department.

CPA is becoming more valuable. I see lots of job postings that require a CPA, CFA, or other professional distinction. It’s also valuable at a start-up or smaller company where your responsibilities will be broad.

I went to law school and got a masters in tax law. I left law firm life after 3 years, and I have been doing Controller/CFO work the last 7 years. I don't have a degree in accounting (finance was undergrad), but when I was looking to leave the law firm it seemed like most of the jobs I was interested in were accounting related. Were you thinking transactional law or did you want to get into litigation/trial work?

You are going to get a lot of OT answers, you will know what to ignore.

Quite honestly, I would stick with accounting over law.

There are some major paying jobs in numbers. It is not the most fancy of jobs, but it is one that will let you enjoy life.
