re: Card collectors, is now a good time to sell Jordan rookie basketball card?

eBay is overwhelmed with Jordan stuff right now....
If legit, the card could fetch around like $1200ish...but lots of remakes, reprints and other fake things on eBay regarding him right now.
Tough to say if it will even get the looks.
Don’t expect anywhere over $1500 though because of the grading company.

I say yes. Good time to sell. People have stimulus money
Has nothing to do with it. The type of person who is going to fork over $5K on a basketball card have enough money such that the current economic bullshite isn't hurting them.

My brother has a hell of a collection at my dad's house still.
He was big into basketball and baseball cards and was very meticulous in research and trading.
I know he has some MJ rookies...

Sure it does. Somebody who wasn't really affected by the shutdowns, but still got a nice couple thousand windfall for the carona virus, can now justify throwing the money on a card he always wanted.

I wouldn’t wait until he passes. Just in case something negative comes out against him. If for some reason a bunch of people come out and say he raped them, then his value would drop.

Like David Stern's personal files on all of his betting on the game?

Anyone waiting for him to die is stupid. It’s not worth waiting 20+ years to sell. OP might not even be around at that point either. Sell it now

Jesus kid, tell me how you really feel...its friggin trading cards.
Look, value is determined by what people will pay. Becketts is full of shite. If you can find someone to buy it at a price you like, go for it. If not, and you don't HAVE to sell it, then wait.
Your call, you're not stupid either way though.

In my opinion the value has probably tanked now that America has seen what a filthy mouth he had.

Sell now. The only way your card gets more valuable is if you get the protective case autographed. If you can pull that off, after death will be your largest spike.

I would sell it if your not attached to it any way....You will make good money....all of his cards are going crazy right now....seems like the card market is making a come back....the graded stuff is what is selling now....also Joe Burrow autographed cards are getting a nice price also.....
You're pretty stupid aren't you. Joe Burrow reference??? JFC

Looks like it was graded by SG?

Probably just as valuable as being ungraded. If it's not graded by Beckett or PSA, it's grade isn't worth anything
In my case, if what you are saying is correct, it would be advisable then that I get my card graded by Beckett or PSA then, correct? This should be done whether I sell or keep it, right?

How much u want
I haven't even begun to think about what I want. I need to check the links provided earlier for eBay completed sales and I may end up getting it graded with Beckett's or PSA. I need to figure out how to do that and what that process looks like as well.

Yep. But be prepared to have to wait 3-4 months if you ship your card to PSA or 5-6 months if you choose BGS

Depends.. do you have kids, plan on having kids.. if no, sure sell.. if yes, i would hang on and pass down. Personally not something i would sell unless needed the money

If you had a PSA 10 you would have some money. The 8 and 9 to 10 ratio is fricking crazy for that card.
8 and 9 has 10k (7.5k and 2.7k) pop while 10 only has 317. Obviously there are probably a ton of regrades in those 8s and 9s, but that sort of ratio doesn't bode well for those grades long term, but makes PSA 10 an insane
