I feel I’ve lit a fire. My overall concern is that insurance agencies treat to frick people all the time. I’m relying on another persons insurance at this point not to frick me. It’s very concerning. And to answer any questions about BI, my passenger has very legitimate injuries, but I didn’t bring that up initially because I didn’t want it to cloud the issue…

Insurance companies are out to pay what they owe. Nowadays people have such unrealistic and unreasonable expectations when they get in a wreck that if they don’t get what they want, “the insurance company fricked me.”

I’ve been working in insurance for almost 20 years and I’ve never heard of or seen anyone instructed, suggested, or even remotely close to encouraged to do anything other than paying for what is owed.

No insurance company wants to get hit with bad faith.

You do what’s best for you, but an insurance claim is not a payday. It’s meant to put you back to how you were before the accident.

Remember several years ago when the legislature overhauled the rules for lawsuits because the insurance companies said our rates would go down, and then all the insurers raised rates instead? I member. Keep lapping up the propaganda.

Well it’s a good thing the values of cars didn’t skyrocket in those few years, not to mention the parts shortage and the increase in the part prices as well. Oh let’s also not forget the 4 major hurricanes that hit within two years.

If you hate insurance so much go without it.

I don’t understand how this is such a controversial topic. I handle claims daily where my customers were at fault and not at fault and I can count on one hand how many have led to dissatisfaction and litigation. However, I’m not in LA.

See the 280k suits filed by injury attorneys in FL prior to the new laws going into effect. It takes years to realize any relief from legislation. People seem to want to have their cake and eat it too. Want cheaper insurance but want a payday. The term indemnify is lost on most.

I didn’t read the whole thread but these threads are a hotbed for misinformation.

Everyone has an opinion and think they know how insurance works but they have no idea.

See the tons of uninsured motorist related posts when people are talking about things that collision would cover.

I handle injury claims. Specifically attorney represented injury claims. Normal people with a moral compass would be absolutely appalled at the things plaintiff attorneys will pull to drive up an injury claim. It’s disgusting. Just yesterday I was looking at a minor backing accident. Attorney is alleging their client has a broken foot and not one but two herniated discs and the threatens excess judgement against the insured who is a single mother of 3 with state minimums. It makes me sick.

Come by my medical office Monday. We can CT and MRI scan you from head to toe? Have you been evaluated for a concussion? Coup-Contrecoup is real! How many passengers were with you? We should evaluate them as well! Are you having difficulty sleeping, getting anxious with driving? Acute stress disorder and PTSD are real! We can help you!

Unless you had GAP insurance, you will only get paid what your car was worth and owe the remaining principle on your loan before you can buy another car/take out another loan. GAP insurance is like PMI on a home but you aren’t required to take it. Unfortunately you got shite on in this situation.

Other vehicle does not matter at all. They are only responsible for covering minimum costs. If you or anyone else is hurt, go to the doctor, inform their State Farm policy and send them actual bills for what you had done.

I had a lady try to sue me because she claimed she had a head injury after I rear ended her at less than 50 mph. She had an Infiniti QX80. I had a sedan. They tried to sue me, so I decided to Facebook stalk. They were rich. Turns out they were using old information to submit against my policy to try and get a claim. My insurance only paid out $1,000 for her doctor visit. It is what it is.

Don’t be like them. shite like that is why we have never ending increasing premiums.

So much trash on this damn board.

Meanwhile every decent person is getting bent over on their insurance to support the lowlifes and their lawyers. The lawyers love the "honest" people who suck it up and pay those premiums to keep up the racket.

I'm open to other ways of ending the corruption other than just complaining every 6 months.

The insurance company will give you 100% of what they are supposed to pay, they never fight or give anyone issues or try to lowball. They are one of the most misunderstood industries.

I've been through enough hurricane claims to know that insurance companies do not exist to make their insureds whole. To suggest otherwise is to pretend this board isn't full of Gulf Coast residents.

Give some specific examples? Be sure not to include those policyholders who felt slighted because they didn’t understand how their Hurricane deductible worked.

They will low ball you at first. The rating software is not caught up on new market factors. Provide them comps and negotiate a higher amount. If cars for sale like yours are 19-22k go ahead and get those ready cause they will work with you. Prices on cars have cooled but I bet they offer 17500 or something like that
