When I had a subscription, I went almost daily. It's right by my house on the way back from work. And I get off early, so not in a rush to get home. Park under an oak tree, so was constantly covered in stuff.

During COVID I tried to cancel it because I wasn't using it. Huge pain in the arse, so I refuse to start up again. I'm sure most locations are better customer service to cancel, but this was the only one I know I'd use regularly.

The only one around my office opened about a year ago, all new equipment and it does a great job. I, well my company pays $35 a month for unlimited for the best wash, wax, spot free, and tire shine. I hit it up 2 to 3 times a week, truck is always spotless. The place is printing money as there is always a line it seems, there is a competitor opening one up down the road, I expect the price will be coming down once they open.

The number 1 rule in car washing is to never ever spray cold water onto a hot surface. Hood, wheels and most of the rest of the exterior are hot following a drive to a car wash.

They use harsh detergents at these places that will deteriorate any coating on your car's exterior including clear coat.

I have an 11 year old pickup that has never been in an automatic car wash. People remark about its finish all the time.

East Tennessee is getting lots of internet ads for the "opening soon" "The Car Wash Club".

I don't dare show any interest or be drowned in their popups, but I wonder how their membership works.

Only thing I like a lot is how powerful the vacuums are.

I wash all my vehicles myself though.

They must be doing something right because the ones around here are always busy.

Walmart will already come in the house and put your groceries up for you. Kroger too, I think.

If it’s -20F out, the car wash place would be closed

Maybe in the 1970's with acrylic laquer paint jobs.
Maybe in the 1980's with acrylic enamel paint jobs.
Not so much with the modern polyurethane clear coats.

These are test results of your typical automotive clearcoat. I think it can handle a little car wash soap from time to time.

Private equity groups bought up and built out chains to sell car wash subscriptions in the last ten years and are now ratcheting up pricing as all equity funds inevitably do.

Not a single one of my cars has ever been through a car wash. Surefire it's the quickest way to ruin your finish.

What no enclosed wash bay with a lift in your heated garage?

I pay way too much for my car wash. I go to a hand wash place and pay around $55 once a month, but I have a nicer car and those automated things are shite. The place I go to has a subscription that’s $15 more per month than 1 of their washes.

I do really like the interior cleaning and application they put down and they are a LOT more diligent and efficient than I was when I did it.

Outdated thinking. If these places were ruining cars, they wouldn’t be in business with so many subscriptions.

The brushes love smacking your car with dirt residue from the cars that just went through before you, and they do it at 70 RPM (generally).

So when you look at your car and see all these spidery fine streaks all over your clear coat finish, just know that you didn't have to ruin the finish by going through a car wash (unless it's a completely no-touch place). You chose to, anyway.

The geaux wash place was like $18 for the premium wash a year ago now it’s up to $26. Seems like it goes up every time I go
