You're going to pay all the bullshite fees arent you? The only extras you need to pay are tax, title and license.

Give the dealer, that has your deposit money, a chance to match before you back out. It’s very simple.

Yeah, thats what I figured. Dealers know what other Dealers have.

Obviously, go w/ the lower price assuming no deposit issues.

On an ordered car, you wouldn't be getting the deposit back, and rightfully so.

I would be honest about the situation and explain you had a done on the car initially at X price, and if 2nd dealet will match, Id get it from them.

In most states, by default, deposits are non refundable

My lean was to go with A - all things equal, give me the lower price for the same thing.

My concern would be if they were bait and switching you with the fleet sale explanation to get you into a more profitable car, they may be doing something shady again.

It is a shame that the industry is so damn sleezy that simple and likely explanations to a scenario still make me hold my wallet with one hand and cover my butthole with the other.

Nope, dealer A jerked you around so they would be off my list forever.

I don’t disagree but the new one is an entirely new VIN and they are honoring the price. So I felt more like they were trying to get a sale and felt like they screwed me by selling it out from under me.

They can't keep the deposit, go with the better price.

There is 0 customer service left in dealerships. They don't care about establishing relationships anymore, they will take every opportunity to screw you over.

Next time I buy a car it will be 100% done before I step foot in a dealership.

Make sure to get the buyer's order emailed to you and don't just take their word on the price. I just bought a vehicle and had a couple of dealerships with great prices that would not send me a buyer's order. I told them I wouldn't come to the dealership (I did a nationwide search, flew to my destination, and road-tripped home mini-vacation style) without one and I got the run-around. Other dealerships were willing to email me a buyer's order and the fact that the ones with prices $2k better than I could get anywhere else in the country made me believe I was in for a bait and switch.

But A already fricked you. There’s no way in hell I’d buy from them at the same price as the first agreement. No fricking way.

But how did they?

I wasn’t planning to get the vehicle til Friday no matter what.

I’ve literally spent about 30 minutes extra dealing with this.

I’m just trying to figure out how I got screwed if I end up with the same vehicle and price on the same day as I originally planned.

Isn’t the real person getting screwed the sales guy at Dealer B?

If you come to an agreement on a purchase and then they sell the car to someone else first, that’s a bullshite move.

Fair enough.

To make it up to me, they (a) found another vehicle that has a more powerful engine, (b) honored the price agreed to originally, and (c) are now going to deliver it to me here at my house free of charge.

So yes, they screwed me...and then they fixed it. Isn't that what you'd want them to do for you?

Not without a deposit. The first person who shows up with funds wins.

Yes... I would expect more than the original deal and it sounds like you received that.

Be warned, unless every single item has been agreed to in writing, you'll have ZERO negotiation leverage once you put a deposit down.

Oh, you didn't want the scotchguard treatment on the upholstery? Sorry, its already been applied. That'll be $500. Oh, you didn't want to pay the $695 "doc fee"? Well, you can walk, but your deposit is non-refundable.

And good luck negotiating the trade....
