Car insurance question for the all knowing OTers

So I just noticed that someone hit my driver side rear wheel well pretty good. No note or insurance info was left on my car. It either happened in my condo garage or my work garage. I am going to both places trying to get videos but won't be surprised if there is none. What is the repercussion if I get this fixed on my insurance? Steps I should take i.e. Police report? Any advice is welcome.
FYI I have full coverage on my car.

Less hassle to just buy a new car.

Probably gonna have to cover it yourself. Depending on the cost to repair. You may have to pay out of pocket or your deductible. If there is video evidence file a police report.

I would pay out of pocket to get that fixed. No need to risk insurance rates going up over that.

Depends on the damage and the cost to repair. What seems simple to repair to us may cost 2k. I have seen deep gashes on bumpers get costly when the repair shop says we gotta replace the bumper, paint and prime, etc.

It's a pretty good crease in the metal well. Looks like it is a single piece panel if it has to get replaced. S-line Audi so it's going to be costly. Hell, just a plastic piece on it that goes around the fog light was $400
I'm hoping I get video but wasn't sure if I had any other options other than coming out of pocket or my insurance. Also wasn't sure if I make a claim if t will effect my insurance since I was not at fault and could file a police report.

File a police report and go through your insurance. Your deductible (especially if you have uninsured motorist coverage) will be cheaper than out of pocket. Your rates won't go up because someone else hit you.

Keep your mouth shut...wait till tomorrow...go to the country...call popos...say some fool in a truck bumped your arse while you were at the stop sign...go to doctor with back and neck pain...get free massages to make you feel better about paying your deductible to your insurer.
If you have UM property (unlikely)...you're money with that plan. Lol.
Next, see how many cigarettes you can sneak into prison in your arse, because insurance fraud is illegal af and I don't know if you're smart enough to pull this shite off.
Eta...just in case you're a little retarded...legal advice this is not...ize no attorney...always be calling da lawya man.

You have insurance for a reason, call them up and ask questions.

Gah... people are so paranoid about their "rate going up". What's less, the cost of that rate (potentially, may not even go up at all) over a year or the cost to repair?
What may seem like small damage can actually cost a TON to repair. There's hardly anything more than a little dent or a broken light that can be fixed "out of pocket" anymore. A busted in bumper and bent rear quarter-panel is several thousand dollars.
Just call your insurance company and ask their advice. They're not the boogeyman. This is what you pay them for. You don't HAVE to file a claim just because you called them. They may say "between me and you, just pay to have it fixed". That doesn't result in some double-secret note being put in your file. Not to mention that this is not-at-fault, which is looked at differently than damage you caused.

If you have uninsured motorist coverage the deductible will be $250 (this is in TX so I'm not sure how it is in other states). I wouldn't claim it under collision coverage because the insurance company will for sure list it as an "at fault" accident and depending on your driving record and other factors you MAY see a rate increase come renewal time.

This will be very beneficial to send to your insurance company as it will give them proof it was not your fault.
Who is your insurance company?

Erie Insurance. Thanks for the color so far OT. Woke up this morning and since my car dried off from the rain I can see discoloration on the tire and scuffed up rim. Whoever hit it definitely noticed cause they go it good.

1. Try to get surveillance footage, if possible.
2. Always file a police report.
3. File a claim through your auto carrier.
4. Believe me if your auto carrier finds out who did this, they will go after them through subrogation.

Depends on how much damage, what you deductible is, can you get video footage of that incident with a plate number. First if you can get a video with the vehicle and plate number file a police report then call the insurance report it and give them the police report and go from there. Next get an estimate if you can't get a police report and if the damage is significantly over your deductible I would file a claim pay the deductible and have it repaired your rate will probably rise. Last if it is in line with your deductible and or under it sucks ,but you have to bite the bullet on it. No use to file a claim if you have to pay it full or most out of pocket anyway.
