what is the longest you have ever had a car battery last? I have toyota corolla that had a new battery put in November of 2017 and it is still going strong. Never have had one last longer than maybe 4 and half years before.

5 years but it needed to be replaced well before that. I had to boost my car a few times because I was too lazy to go get a new one. I usually get a new one every 2 years when I get my tags.

Does it matter the brand or do they all shite the bed after that amount of time?

I had a 1998 Dodge Dakota that I dove for 6 years. Put over 100k on it and never did anything to it but change the oil and tires. It still had the original brakes, battery and everything else when I sold it.

Granted, I was commuting a lot from Nola-->BR so a lot of highway miles.

Most of them start to crap out after a couple of years regardless of the brand. That’s been my experience at least. That one that lasted 5 years was an anomaly

With the exception of a handful of elite brands the vast majority, including OEM are all made in the same place and white labeled.

regarding life, I just had to replace mine from 2017. It was acting fine until I pulled it to try and start another vehicle then it took a shite.

Batteries have been getting worse over the years. The recycled elements aren’t as pure. Some battery brands are definitely better than others. Check consumer reports type sites.

I’ve got one the garage said was “bad” at 69% figure I’m good till Fall, that said I think the longest I’ve had one was 6/7 years in my truck.

Seems like everything else price of batteries has taken off as well.

Yep, I had to replace the one in my Silverado last summer and like everything else, sky high.

They use to last 4-5 years on average now I'm lucky if I get 2 years out of them.

Two years is about the longest I’ve gone.

Also, why doesn’t the battery warning light work in vehicles?

I’ve owned several vehicles across many different makes, they all have the warning light, and I’ve never been warned. It’s always one or two weak starts before I know I’m going to need a jump.

My vehicle batteries average 4 years. But i have a Kubota tractor with one from 2016. Its a Kubota labeled battery so i dont know what brand. Its crazy bc that tractor runs twice a month on average in the summer with maybe 100 hours a year. Even less in winter.

I think it’s by design. You used to could find a five-year battery, but now they are hard to find. The battery makers like that money coming in every 3 years.

I got just under 8 years with a Optima yellow top. Probably could have made eight but I had a trip out of state in the winter time and didn’t want to chance it with it being outside in freezing weather.
Always had good luck with Interstate batteries.
