Yep, I was thinking the same today. The liberals want to frick up college football and I get why because it's one of the few institutions remaining in the U.S. that is largely supported by conservatives. But hey, let's see how well the "student" athletes perform in the classroom when we level the academic playing field.
Prediction: if it happened and it likely won't, college football would become like basketball and baseball with players going directly to the pros but at least our universities wouldn't be footing the bill for their training.
And guess what? I have plently of more productive things to do with my time and money.

I say try it. Let all graduating high schools enter pro ranks immediately. They can't cut it in the pros, they can try out for a college team, but they pay their way like everyone else does.
If a school turns a profit in a given sport, they pay the players on that given team a wage based on merit.
