it is disrespectful to change the lyrics to your national anthem just to make a political statement.
This.
I agree with his message, but changing national anthem lyrics is an extremely disrespectful way to express it. Bad move by him, and shame on him.

I watch sports for many reasons, and one of the main reasons is to get away from the real world and its problems. So if I turn on the all-star game, I really don't want to be subjected to anyone's political beliefs, no matter what they are.
100% This. Sports are meant to be a distraction and entertainment. The quickest way for me to change the channel is for politics to be brought up.

Takes some massive balls or serious idiocracy to change the lyrics to a national anthem.

I think this is why Bob Costas has become less popular these days.

Yea it is more about the song that he chose to change rather than what he said. Had he changed the lyrics to Free Bird he wouldn't have.... wait bad example...
Had he changed the words of any pop, country, hip hop, etc. song, we wouldn't even be talking about this.
However, changing the national anthem, even if it is the national anthem of "America's Hat" is shameful and disrespectful.

That said, had he said "black lives matter" rather than "all lives matter", he wouldn't be getting 1/10th of the backlash
Its not like anybody got mad at Beyonce for dressing in black at the Superbowl.

I wish BLM would change to ABLM. ALL Black Lives Matter. Because apparently they don't.

It was a cringeworthy display of "look at me I want to be seen as significant" behavior
