I have a 2002 Honda Accord ex v6 and was thinking about replacing everything under the hood as a project. I know it will be expensive but I will do little at a time. Is it possible to put a 4 cylinder when it was made for a v6?

You should replace it with a 350

Not sure why you would want to, unless it was a boosted K24 or something else in the Honda universe.

Some 2002 Accords were equipped with 2.3L 4 Cylinder Engines.

A swap should be fairly easily done.

Bolt patterns for a few items but that would be an easy fix

The 3.0L is a great engine, why do you want to replace it?

I was thinking it would be better on gas but it was just a thought though.

Wrong

It's worth what ever he or someone else is willing to pay for it.

It’s better on gas but the expense to swap will never be offset by getting 5 more mpg with $2/gal gas.

you will need the matching ECU computer and wiring harness for everything to work, plus new exhaust and the front end will ride high unless you add weight or replace with the 4 cylinder struts.

seems like a lot of money to spend to cut your horsepower down significantly

just get yours rebuilt or get another v6 to drop in, its the smart move

you can go brand new crate or find a wrecked car so you know it was driving on the road and the engine should then be a good one. some wrecks even have engines with under 50k miles

You guys are right I will stick with the v6 and no need to go through all that trouble. The 2002 Honda Accord is my favorite car and a part of me wants to fix it up have it running new again. I always preferred the older cars being more reliable and simple without all the extra electronic stuff they are adding in the newer ones. Like a mechanic told me, more stuff in a car the more you will have to pay.

Engine mounts are different. You could do it, but you’d have a decent amount of welding to do.

Ok, slick

If a person is driving a vehicle that KBB lists as a 1k vehicle and it gets totaled and the insurance company gives you 1k. It takes you 6k to replace said vehicle, what was the vehicle worth to you?

I'll give you a few because your head will explode.

A true classic. Don’t make ‘em like that no more.

Not to mention probably harder to get up to 120 with the 4 cylinder to really maximize the fuel economy savings.
