Getting CLOSER! This quote is from a speech:
"I will send my children’s children to reverence him who ennobled their name with his heroic blood".
That's the first half.

It definitely says Battle of Gettysburg. Was your great great great grandfather on the good guys’ side?

Is that at Camp Moore?

It's in Virginia (Hollywood Cemetery)

People wrote more eloquently in those days. Reminds me of Abraham Lincoln’s letter to Mrs. Bigsby in Boston. Powerful shite.

Best bet is to ask whoever manages the cemetery and maybe the stone maker has some records. Not likely but it’s a shot in the dark. It’s too weathered to tell.
Post it on the “what is this thing” subreddit, they have an interesting variety of people that could likely help. Good luck and let us know if you figure it out

Was his name Jemison H. Moore?
If so he was a captain in the Officers of Company H (Chickasaw Guards), and was killed at Gettysburg on July 3rd (other records show July 4th). In the Eleventh Mississippi Infantry.

That's the one! My mom is trying to figure out what the tombstone says for Father's Day.

Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond VA is the oldest large cemetery in the city. There are a number of groups who care for the tombs and the plants. If you were to mail a request, you'd probably get an answer.

WE GOT IT!!!!! Second half:
The principle for which we contend is bound to reassert itself, though it may be at another time and in another form…
It's a Jefferson Davis quote. Thank you guys so much. By piecemealing it together, I was finally able to get enough to search and actually get results.

That can't be right...
The last two words on that line look like "he died" to me. I certainly don't see "contend" unless I'm missing something.
ETA: Though I'll concede that I'm a bit bleary-eyed right now, so who knows

That is an awesome quote. As I said, those people back then wrote much more eloquently than we do now.
