I am looking at a GLS 450 and want to have it for 10-15 years. Can you put that kind of mileage on a one, or will it fall apart in 3 years like a BMW?

I wouldn’t ever not have a warranty on it.

Should only take 3-4 engines and transmissions, but sure.

If that’s your big priority, get a Lexus.

You can, but only buy one that has a long-proven powertrain. Also, the less options the better, german cars are universally shite at electric system design.

If you want a bulletproof Mercedes, just get a 1980s 240D, baw. Nothing pulls the poon like 0-60 in 33 seconds

I’m almost there. Got roughly 25-30K to go. Mine is a 2008. Sure parts are expensive but so what.

I can afford repairs, but I don’t want a money pit either. Anywhere close to Lexus reliability?

I put 240k on a BMW. But I won't ever buy another one.

Expect to spend a fair amount of time and money here once warranty runs out.

A GLS is pre GLE and would have some significant mileage on it already. If you’re dead set on owning a Mercedes, be ready to spend a significant amount of money on shop bills.

Did it cost you an arm and a leg to get there?

No, only trouble I’ve had is the electrical really. But that’s not a big deal in my world. Thing is a sturdy tank.

I've owned a Mercedes and an Audi that fit your description. Prepare to spend about $10k-$15k between 75k-120k miles to replace the things that wear out over time, as well as some larger ticket service items. If you do that you're good to over 200k+. That has been my experience.

I wouldn’t.

My 2021 X5M has less than 10k and I’ll get rid of it before the warranty runs out.

sure you can, you'll have nearly the purchase price in maintenance and repairs though...
