It isn't a non sequitur, you just don't know the lyrics. They are, "you can't raise a Cain back up when he's in defeat." As in the opening line of the song "Virgil Cain is my name..." He's saying his family knows when they are good and whipped.

I have more of an allegiance to my state than my country. It's a Southern thing no doubt.

I sort of get that but myself and my family have been far too transient to form a stronger bond with a state than our country.

The night they drove Old Dixie down

And all the bells were ringin

The night they drove Old Dixie down

And all the people were singin

So you would fight a war that you knew that you had no chance of winning? What's the point?

My great, great,Uncle along with his brothers Thomas, William, and Isaac went to fight with R.E. Lee in Norther Virginia in 1861. They trained in Pensacoal, Fla. The picture of their company is on the wall at the Civil War Museum in New Orleans. William and Thomas died of disease that same year.

In reality, the federal govt has done little for me. Overall I feel I've done just as much for it or more since joining the work force.

but the love of my state and Southern region tugs at my heart a little more.

I don't have any obligation to the state either. I've paid my dues here too. But I totally agree with you on "The South". The old south is an idea and way of life. I haven't been forced to monetarily give to it for much of my life. But I feel the south has given me a lot. I would show allegiance to that.

No it's applicable. Some people' morals lead them to believe it's ok to enslave other humans and force them to do back-breaking manual labor or risk being whipped like an animal.

About 2% of southerners owned slaves before the Civil War. The average southerner was fighting for state's rights, and were mad at the northerners who imposed tariffs that raised the cost of imported goods in the south.

But you keep living in your fantasy world where all southerners owned slaves who were beaten daily for the entertainment and amusement of the white man.

More Neo Confederate bs.

In 1860 percentage of Southern Households that owned slaves:

Ms- 49%
S.C- 46%
Ga-.-37%
Ala-35%
FLA.-34%
La. -30%
Tx.-28%
NC-28%
Va- 26%
Tn.- 25%

Damn near half the Households in Missisppi & S.C. alone owned slaves no matter what Lost Cause nonsense you've obviously learned. And these numbers aren't counting Overseers,Patrollers, Slave Auction houses ,etc.......who depended on slavery.

Neo Confederate scum who skew statistics in order to downplay slavery are no better than Neo Nazis downplaying Nazi atrocities.

The North was a bit too magnanimous it seems with the Losers of the war.

The losing General of the Civil War? The man responsible for one of the biggest military mistakes in history?

Not intimidated. He's a snowflake
