whatever the bedtime routine is that works, find one and kind of stick close to it, and it should get easier.

You just pretend like you’re asleep until you are.

I didn't but then you guilt tripped me into skimming them. Interesting stuff...

It's quite a mindfrick because I also see black and now I think I might have aphantasia.

Put on tv and sleep timer on tv.

I need noise to fall asleep but need it quiet once I fall asleep.

Yes, but when I wake up 5 minutes before my alarm, I have a shite load of star dust in my eyes.

Ultimately, I've decided I'm glad for it. It doesn't seem to be an impairment of any significance, and I know when I close my eyes, I can count on peaceful darkness.

I'd like to know if Brad Pitt and Jane Goodall have it. They say they suffer from "face blindness" or prosopagnosia, which keeps them from remembering people's faces.

Brad Pitt says he has face blindness. So what is prosopagnosia?

When the mind is tired work the body. When the body is tired work the mind.

The softest pillow is a clean conscience.

Honestly, I don’t know you. My bet is you need to sweat. You need to go work your arse off. And it needs to be on something bigger than mowing the grass. It needs to be hard arse work. Preferably with a positive end result. Hit the gym. This is actually great for your mind too. Or pick a project bigger than yourself and give yourself a timeline. Needs to be hard. Dig up all that shite by the fence your wife hates. Reshingle the garage. Put in that French drain.

Whatever.

You need to burn energy and activate muscle while doing a mindless task that allows your mind to wander

I love sweat.

I realize it’s damn near 2 am but this was a conscious decision. And I have my own hell project scheduled at 8 on my day off.

Work your body man.

Everything has drawbacks.. other posters here have mentioned using things like Advil PM or NyQuil every single night to sleep.. you should admonish them as well.. NyQuil and Advil PM contain the exact same ingredient as Benadryl.. the exact same ingredient , which is in turn the exact same ingredient in Unisom Sleepgels, and very similar to the ingredient in what i take, Unisom Sleeptabs .. also, i dont drink alcohol at all.. is alcohol (which MANY people here and elsewhere seem to use for sleep)- is that more “acceptable” to you, with all its associated risks ?

What *really* scared me, and i only took it regularly for a couple of years- was Ambien.. dangerous , evil stuff…. For some of us, no matter how much the holier than thou types in this thread talk about having a ‘clear conscience’ .. some of us no matter how clear our conscience is, we simply cannot get our brains to shut off… i accepted that fact years ago, just like some people have chemical imbalances where they need psychotropic drugs or anti-depressants, none of this is without controversy .

Meditate

I used to have insomnia only thing that was a sensible long term solution for me. You have to learn to calm the thoughts and fluctuations of the mind to find the peace to fall asleep. It isn’t the easy take a pill approach and I doing it one morning for 5 minutes and expecting results won’t cut it. It may take a few months but it works. Don’t believe me, do it yourself

Between getting up early, going to work, then working out.

By the time i eat in the evening, afterwards i go lay down and half the time, i don’t even remember trying to go to sleep. I legit crash the second my head hits the pillow lots of nights.

Start doing some tough workouts. Once your body is tired, you will sleep without trying

More often than not, I do not sleep good when I have had more than 2-3 beers in a day. Best sleep I get is after days I’ve exercised.
