Can we talk about how much of a scam building management companies are?

The raccoon post reminded me about how fricking corrupt some of these companies are. They won’t let you do a damn thing in their building without threatening to sue you.
I worked in a building where they build in floor plans for now the office was set up.
And if you moved anything, they charged the company under lease for breaking terms of agreement. But if you wanted something moved, they charge you out the arse.
The building management wanted $10,000 to move a fucjing desk. My former company wanted to rearrange the office and the manager couldn’t because she’d have to fire someone and use their salary to do that.
They wanted a $200 fee to install a computer. Our company y had a fully staffed IT support department in the building but the building management wouldn’t let them do installations.

Then they shouldn’t have leased from that building?
None of the class A space I’m familiar with does this.

The building sold in 2012 for $350,000,000 at $315 per square foot. And the building is supposed to be very technically advanced m. So maybe they’re trying to do whatever they can to get the cost back? Idk. People just thought it was a matter of fact annoyance.

Sounds like someone should read the document before they sign it. OP is full of shite, an idiot, or both.

Well, if they own the building they can do whatever they want.

Building management does not own the building. The building is owned by a group of New York investor. The building managers are a large building management company that run dozens to hundreds of similar buildings

Huh? What did I do? I just worked in the building for a company that leased space there and thought it was stupid setup. Onsite management thought it was a stupid setup to. National management doesn’t care probably because they got a deal on the lease. But they didn’t keep the building management company nickel and dining the companies based there

He doesn't know what he's talking about. This is some water cooler gossip shite. Dude was a low level IT guy for a national investment bank, he knows nothing about the lease terms of the building.

If the lease agreement calls for them to be the exclusive provider of these services, then they're entitled to. A company might sign up if they get a break on the monthly payments, for example.
Do you happen to know the full details of the lease agreement?
