re: Can we talk about how much of a scam building management companies are?

I worked for 2 companies that were housed in a managed building and none of the above ever happened. They basically took care of maintenance, including janitorial services. I have no idea what the cost was but they definitely took care of the place. One was a glass building and the glass was always completely spotless. Garbage was collected from offices twice a day. We took care of our own IT including any changes needed with hardware/wiring.
Sounds like they have you grabbing your ankles.

This ain’t gossip.
And I’m as far away from IT as you can get. Don’t change the subject m.

A group of New York investors paid $350 million, the highest price for a downtown office building in 2012, for the potential privilege of trying to fill one of the biggest vacancies in the city. A venture that includes Joseph Mizrachi and David Werner paid $350 million, or nearly $315 per square foot, for the 1.1-million-square-foot tower

The infrastructure is probably the best in the city,” Mr. Stein said. “I think they'll do well. It will be a good fit for trading firms, technology firms and anybody who needs a ton of power or cooling.” In addition to backup generators and superior connectivity for high-speed electronic transactions, the tower includes a data center for storing large amounts of electronic records.

That is 1.11mm sq feet which would make this the 8/9th largest building in the world based on sq footage. I sink you full of shite.

No it wouldn’t. From your wiki:
You realize that the 50th largest building in the world is over 4,000,000 sq feet.

The building management wanted $10,000 to move a fucjing desk. My former company wanted to rearrange the office and the manager couldn’t because she’d have to fire someone and use their salary to do that.
They wanted a $200 fee to install a computer. Our company y had a fully staffed IT support department in the building but the building management wouldn’t let them do installations.
I think your premise is likely accurate, but these examples seem unlikely.

That’s what we were told and it fits. I know a computer I ordered arrived months before it got sent up because they were factoring the instillation fee into office costs.
I know the managing director vehemently hated the way half of the office was set up in hexagon desks and he thought that brought productivity way down because managers couldn’t see all there teams at once. But that would require having to redo the setup for more than just the desks because the wiring was based through the desks.
