I'm sure I will never change your mind and I agree that we should move on

But I'm just trying to get you to not see it as a "stain on America" because that's what leads to animosity. It's a stain on the human race. Americans didn't invent it and they definitely didn't practice it any different than any other culture in history

Facts aren't going to keep "culture" from using skin color as a crutch. They will bitch from now until eternity about this faux unfairness that exists.

frick em, let em whine. If they want to lead miserable lives, let em.

Great point! Other people are awful so I'd like to pretend my ancestors made no mistakes. C'mon man, slavery is bad and shouldn't be sanctioned by historical equivalencies. Does that mean slavery in the south is the same as slavery today, no, but its still evil.

Who sanctioned slavery, who said slavery wasn't awful?

I'm just stating my fellow SJWs and African Americans complain about slavery from hundreds of years ago, yet they do absolutely nothing about modern day slavery.

Take me for example. My family originated from Lithuania (before legally immigrating to the US in the 20s)

Russia fricked Lithuania up for centuries. Something like 800,000 partisans killed, many in the gulags during the Soviet era.

Explains while Lithuania et al tore down the Soviet era statues.

Also I'm not saying the monuments had anything to do with this. I couldn't care less about them coming down.

I'm concerned about a mayor of New Orleans in 2017 that wants to cater to the thought that slavery is still somehow affecting citizens of this country and that somehow anyone in this country is solely responsible

Slavery was taking place in Africa long before Europeans started buying slaves. More slaves were held in Africa than were sent elsewhere.

So black on black slavery was more prevalent than white on black slavery. Interesting.

If I chained up,your white grandma, whipped her when she misbehaved, and bred her as needed, would you give my grandkids a big hug because all that was in the past?

Psh. Soul food is garbage. My favorite band had an Aussie lead singer, and my favorite basketball player is South American.

I wouldn't give them a hug but I doubt I would blame them for any of the problems in my life today. Besides, who asked for a hug?

Actually Muslim on black slavery was more prevent than all. An estimated 112 million African slaves were taken by the Muslims. The men were castrated so they couldn't reproduce in the Muslim society, and the women were sold as sex slaves.

Compared to 12 million in the atlantic slave trade. Of which only 3-5% (~500,000) went to what is now the United States.

That's absurd. No one currently living in the United States is or was a slave. And it is almost a certainty that everyone posting in this thread is related to a slave if you go back far enough in history

You don't believe that modern day sex trafficking is real?

A slave in the sense that it is portrayed in the media. Yes sex trafficking is real.
