Sam's kids couldn't get along with each other, or with Sam. Sam's grandkids couldn't get along with themselves or anyone else in the family. So rather than have one bakery with multiple locations, we have various bakeries, with different owners, who all make pretty much the same King Cake.

Manny Randazzo's in Metairie
Randazzo's Camellia City in Slidell
Nonna's in Mandeville, Covington, and Chalmette
Caywood and Randazzo's in Chalmette

"Split" seems kinda harsh...the opposite of "unity". I think it had more to do with "diversity"...which is a good thing. It's 2021, words matter.

Hung out with Mickey in college. Parents separated. Mom wanted her own place and dad wanted his place. They both were fighting over Mickey and who would take which bakery. Money and family are funny sometimes.

Mickeys older sister and I are the same age and were all part of same school, country club playground. It was a pretty shitty situation that Manny and Diane put the kids through, especially Mickey.
