If you were a baw you wouldn't need an explanation.

why did this catch on so hard here at tigerdroppings?

tigerdroppings is notorious for taking something that's kinda chuckelworthy and running it so far into the ground it comes out on the other side of the earth. The "why you mad tho" era was about the worse and seemed like it'd never end but mercifully it finally fizzled out. Currently we're stuck in the "tell me you [something] without telling me you [something]" phase, although that seems to be dying down ever so slightly.

Basically, people do it because they think it's the funny cool popular thing to do and that by using it they'll gain favor from the internet strangers reading their post. Most don't realize that they sound like tryhard megadouches though. I'd guess one out of every ~100ish uses of baw on here actually has some humor behind it. The rest are just cringe.

you know how when you're young something funny may happen and it's awesome but when your parents and other old farts do it it becomes lame?

I thought that’s what you were doing but then I remembered you were an engineer so you automatically think you’re smarter than everyone else, so you were just being condescending

But I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt here.

I’ve lived in south Louisiana my whole life and have not ever once heard it pronounced this way..

“South Louisiana” is a term that seems to get thrown around loosely. If you’re from Lake Charles or Mandeville for example, yes that’s technically located in South Louisiana. But culturally it’s not the same South Louisiana as Kaplan or Thibodaux.

You get down into “Deep South Louisiana” well beyond I-10, start talking to local guys and you’ll hear it for sure.

Pretty easy to explain... your basic group think, stemming from a deep seated insecurity to be accepted by a small part of society, which manifests itself in the ability to portray exclusionary behavior to other parts of society.
You're welcome...
