So all the young hard workers ended up without a job?

I guess you didn't read my entire post.

They left before the company folded after getting fed up with picking up the slack for the no accounts.

Outworking co-workers may not make a difference in some situations, but it most certainly does in others.

Then most are still working for same company, making similar wages, but inflation is eating their lunch and their struggling to save for retirement, some will achieve the goal only to die a year after they retire

Oil is changed every 5,000. It burns about 4-4.5 every 5,000. Compression is fine. No puddles under where I park.

Unless it’s affecting the performance of the truck, just keep a 5 qt jug of oil in your truck and roll with it.

I have a 20 year old truck that burns oil about that much. Almost 200K miles. Doesn’t affect performance. Been that way now for at least 50K miles.

You certainly don’t want to incur a big expense just because it burns some oil and that’s it. That’s my fix if there are no performance issues. No fix. Keep oil in your truck with a cheap funnel and paper towels. Monitor 1x per week. Don’t let perfection be the enemy of the good. Yeah it burns oil. frick it. It runs fine.

Check your oil 1x per week to monitor for increase in usage or changes to color. For example: milky

All the opposition has here is micro solutions to macro problems. Not everyone can be an engineer or doctor. If there was a massive wave of people going into trades, they would become a lot less lucrative (and they’re already a lot less lucrative than people here think)

They should spend more time focussing on the micro instead of the macro because that is what they can control.

Not everyone can be a Dr or an engineer but they can be a contractor, landscaper, get into sales, become a piping designer, or a plant operator. All of these positions have the potential to make as much if not more as an engineer and some Drs.

Yes, it’s good practice to focus on what you control. It’s also annoying that every thread gets bogged down with “just don’t buy starbucks”

Yes, people spend money on dumb shite but when the average first time home buyer is 40 years old there are a much larger issues than buying coffee.

If you hate the NYC mayor and lefty style populism, (I
Do) but I certainly see why it’s going to continue to gain traction as the powers at be continue to fail younger generations. It’s never good for a country to have a bunch young dudes with idle hands so it’s a problem worth fixing.

What the solution is? frick if i know, all I can do grind away a living in this world and hope my kids aren’t as retarded as I was

If this is your “professional” advice. Thanks. This is also what some google searches came up with. My quest isn’t for a truck with 175,000 to be perfect, I need to make sure it’s reliable for drives of any length. That’s why I took it in. I need to make sure that continuing to drive it as such doesn’t make the problem worse…and even more costly down the road.
