Actually it is. I have an empty house, except furniture. My SO has to remind me I am allowed to buy shoes that don't have a nail sticking out of the heel. I really DGAF about "stuff"

Agreed to a certain extent. As with most things in life, I think you need to find balance. I think attitudes like "I won't even buy shoes because I don't like 'stuff'" are just a bad as run amok materialism.

There are exceptions. The New Englander with lots of old money who bought a J boat and refurbished it for millions so that it could be raced (good old days). Elizabeth Meyer saved Endeavour, refurbished her, and basically saved an entire class of magnificent boats.
