Clearly state objectives and what all could happen to make it so.
Knock on every door or your friends do it. Be good listeners... Offer rides to voting place to ones who seem to agree with you.
Plan ahead. 4 people can poster a huge area.
There is a practical answer.
To get on ballot is step one.
Be on top of requirements.
Getting on ballot is your first mgmt challenge.
Expect help. You can't win without it so make getting on ballot your self test. Who will help you? You can be the guy in the grocery parking lot getting signatures and signing up the agnostics and tree huggers. Bumper stickers $2.

Good luck. I hear its like the dago mafia down there.

Maybe. And then that person will end up corrupt.
If the feds had the resources, they could bust 75% of the BS political leadership at the local level in La. Everyone focuses on the higher ups, but it's the lower level politicians who are the most screwed up.

With the corruption that runs rampant in Louisiana politics, can someone who's sick of it all and wants to run actually win?
That's up to the people.
If EBR are tired of democrats and NBR getting these elections, then the rest of the Parish needs to show up to vote.
Bodi White was SG's pic, but Zachary and Central didn't like the guy and stayed home.
Says something when Central didn't want to cast a vote for him.

You have to get votes. It's never about competence. It's about popularity and getting the right people on your side. You know a way to do that that isn't crooked?

Trump's way.
Call out opponents being crooked because you bought their crookedness.
One of my favorite debate moments ever.

The implication that Trump isn't crooked. He's a career con artist and not even a particularly good one. It's unfathomable to me that supposedly intelligent people who are actually able to hold down a job aren't able to see through how transparent he is and will seek any excuse for his idiocy. Hate is pretty blinding I guess.

I didn't say he wasn't.
And now I'm being called a conservative instead of a libtard?
I wish this board would make up it's mind what I am.

Umm. SG stayed home too. Very few voting precincts had over 50% participation.

I know. Only the petition zealots showed up. Most registered voters in that area don't align with them.
He made the runoff strictly off SG voters giving him numbers higher than other candidates, in a low turnout.
But in the runoff, nobody really wanted his crooked arse.
But Central not showing up was Like when Spider Carter ran and Zachary had like a 10% turnout.

IDK how it works in y'alls neck of the woods, but in my home county, such a guy was polling ahead of the 20-year sheriff. His campaign manager fell down a flight of stairs and the guy dropped out.
Sounds like Livingston with the Graves and now Ard.

I'm completely an average Joe. Upper Middle class AP resident. Heavily involved in my church, and in the Veteran community. Nothing sets me apart. I just want to be the change I want to see and not be a corrupt a-hole.
Where I was going with that was: What attributes about yourself will you highlight? If you run, are you going to say "hey, I'm just an average guy, nothing extraordinary about me other than I'm fed up with the system", or are you going to capitalize on being in the religious and veteran communities among any other stuff?
I think rarely a completely average guy can win public office. Back in December when I deployed, I was talking to one of the Soldiers in the Unit we were replacing. After hours of talking to him, we started talking about politics and it turns out he's the mayor of his town in Wisconson. You would have never known it, and he ran on the "my opponent is the establishment and I am an everyday guy who is fed up". He won with sixty-someodd percent of the vote, and in two years has turned the town around fiscally and in infrastructure.
What I mean is, not everyone is deeply involved in their Church, or is a veteran, or owns a business, etc. There are some truely average Joe's, and some unextrodinary people who are trying to do something extraordinary using successes in their past. You say nothing sets you apart, but the more things you list, the more you set yourself apart.

Seriously, reach out to local attorneys and find out who the major donors are in your area. I’ve got some ideas since you mentioned Ascension, but it may vary from one side of the parish to the next.
Or just pull every local elected officials campaign finance report off the ethics administration website to see who the donors are

Avg Joe can run, winning is virtually impossible w/o tons of cash and prior name recognition.
Sad but true

In more rural areas where you may only need a small number of votes, it can easily happen. In super dense urban areas its hard, but for a small, local election if you have one constituency group that you can turn out such as a union, large church, or non-profit its possible.
In the suburbs its almost impossible due to the number of voters you will need to reach spread out over a larger area.
I've worked with elected officials all over the state. In most rural towns/parishes there is at least one elected official who is/was an average joe. However, in many cases that person doesn't run for re-election after they see how much time the position takes from their work, family, other activities. Its alot, especially if you are not self-employed or independently wealthy.

I’m going to run for mayor of BR and take the 8 Mile approach.
Come out on day 1 and air out all my dirty laundry so my competitors have no ammo.
I know everything he's 'bout to say against me
I am white, I am a fricking bum
I do live in a trailer with my mom
My boy Future is an Uncle Tom
I do got a dumb friend named Cheddar Bob
Who shoots himself in his leg with his own gun
I did get jumped by all six of you chumps
And Wink did frick my girl
I'm still standing here screaming, "frick the Free World!"

Almost all become corrupt in order to get things done. It's the only way in LA politics. Really, it's the only way in politics in general. There are a few here and there who actually do well for their respective areas without corruption, but they are overshadowed by the bad ones
