Facial recognition cameras. They are used to identify and track us. The light is to get your attention and get you to look at the camera. I always hide my face when I am around them.

Baton Rouge installed several of those in the Gardere area 10 years ago to help with the crime. It has the ability to locate where a gun went off and several other things.
Gardere murder rate has dropped dramatically in the past 10-15 years.

It's NOPD watching the area. It's run by Nola Homeland Security Command Center.
Pretty pointless with the clearance and conviction rates in the DA’s Office IMO.

NOPD crime cameras.
they are being used not so much to see crime in real time, but if a crime occurs, they can go to the camera to review footage to look for what happened, suspects, evidence, etc.
Guess they'll be showing up on The First 48. Detectives Robert Barrere and Tim Bender, will be reviewing that tape instead of tape from the convenience store across the street.

Back when I lived in Tucson, AZ they had white flashing lights. They were at every major intersection and were used to alert people that a fire truck/police vehicle, ambulance was in the area and about to pass through the intersection.

They have those all over the worst areas of North BR as well, the sub station opening on Burbank was more of a reason for the drop in crime
