Renewing a book at the library today, and I came across this gem in the "free" rack.

Best I can tell, it's a set of Shaker Stitch Vest patterns, copyright circa 1985. It even still has the $1.57 Walmart price tag. For some reason, I was fascinated into this picture's look into the decade of my youth.

Lots of symbolism going on in the photo. Kids look miserable. Pop has his class ring prominently displayed. Mom has a classic 1980s hair fashion going on.

Mercifully, I was ever subjected to this particular (or similar) homemade apparel. However, my wife (no pics) says she endured a couple of these sweaters as Christmas "gifts" over her young childhood.

Really no need for unisex clothes when there are no genders though

Looking at the photo, the knits were made with big knitting needles so the vests would knit up rapidly. And the patterns aren't hard to follow.

Donate the book to a knitting group....maybe through your library. They would probably appreciate it

I didn’t know people checked out books from libraries - or renewed them, whatever that means. I thought libraries were a place for teachers to take students so they wouldn’t have to teach them anything, and for hobos to sleep and have filthy drunken sex with each other.
