Commingle. Entitled to half the equity of the house from the time of marriage. Not a lawyer, just an opinion.

I'm no attorney, but I'm going to say yes. It seems pretty simple to show that she paid into the mortgage and helped pay down the loans used to rebuild the house. I think marriage counseling might be the cheaper route here.

No such thing as mixed property in Louisiana. So if you commingle your separate property with community funds, usually it becomes community property. You probably should have set up a separate property regime at the time of your marriage, stating that the property would be considered separate throughout the marriage.

Not a divorce attorney but can’t beat the rate of $0.

My condolences. My ex ,after 15 years of marriage, decided out of the blue that she wanted to be a slut and that I was boring. She also decided that I had to vacate the premises of a house we had both been paying on. On top of that I had built (with my own labor, with an assist from my Dad ) a 24x24 workshop. Bitch. She engineered the entire plan 8 months before she made her announcement. She called the sheriff and 3 deputies forced me to leave. She got the whole enchilada. Maybe.....

Sounds like the only thing the man "owned" pre-marriage was a loan for the home. Home was owned by some mortgage company.

Mine did the same thing. She decided to announce one Sunday night that she wanted a divorce. That evening was the last time I ever stepped foot in the house. The shite is ridiculous.

SHe is entitled to half of the amount the mortgage was paid down during the marriage but the full amount of equity that was realized is a credit to you. I am going through nearly the same scenario right now.
