You need to check out Bellue's on Scenic.

St George formation gave a little more lifespan to BR living. Yes, I live in St George in the best area. Makes it bearable.

If you live breathe and bleed for LSU, well I’m sure you love BR.

BTW, BR was nice 50 years ago but what place wasn’t?

Legit place. Run by a retired BR city cop and lives in the house behind the place. Cooks and smokes everything there. Great prices. Always a line for lunch plates.

He will let you sample stuff to see if you like it first. Great guy and will talk to anyone like a friend.

He catered my last Thanksgiving dinner.

An hour from Nola for weekend or day trips. 3.5 hours from Alabama/Florida beaches.

And only an 8 hour drive from the mountains.

Less than that for nice hilly areas. Half a days drive from Houston and Dallas.

It's not the worst location for sure

BR needs a good health club on the south side of town - on the order of Red's or Ochsner in Harahan. Steam, sauna, cold dip, lap pools, track, racketball, and of course weights and cardio. Sure, we have the UREC, but parking is horrendous, if you are not already on campus.

The "chicken Tenders" (each one is the size of your hand) are the best I've ever had.

Gumbo is amazing.

He makes this cornbread with the liquor from the mustard greens every so often. Good lord I don't even care for cornbread but that stuff is like crack.

His "Bac-ham sandwich" is the best BLT I've had. (He makes this loaf out of bacon and then fries it up.)

I used to be in there 2-3 times a week when that was my territory. It was just a great place to stop and shoot the shite. I need to get out that way and check on them soon.

One of my favorite places in BR

I always liked red stick. Most of why I like it is because of LSU though.

Take LSU out or if I didn’t care about LSU then I don’t know if I’d like it.

If you can make a good living there it’s worth it.

I'm with you baw. Call it Stockholm Syndrome or whatever, but I was born in Red Stick and never could get more than 20 minutes away no matter how much shite I talked about our city in the past. My favorite time of the year is about to remind me why I stick around.

That's any place in the South. You can't escape it beyond building your own St George.

He would smoke steaks. Boy oh boy they are good. He does it every so often. Not sure if he still does.

He is getting older. Need to get myself over there again soon. Deer sausage is great. He always has his cornbread dressing. All of his stuff he packs and freezes too it if you want to bring it home. Or he will ship it as well.

His wife makes a chocolate pie to die for.

There is a reason i'm still here. Family obviously os one of them, but if that were literally the only reason, I wouldn't still be here. I still don't want my daughters staying here beyond high school.
