Private entities are more efficient and generally better and more inventive than government. There are some basic functions, however, that should belong to government (if for no other reason than those running the function are subject to FOIA, etc. for transparency).
City wide water systems might be one. Prisons are another.
Jackson MS and Flint MI might have something to say about that.

I too watched the Twitter video. Also like the other posters ask why there’s not a eight minute video on the one party state policies that factored bigly into what we see today.

It's hilarious that shitlibs think that any/all of this could take place without the connivance of politicians.

Is Faye Resnick( of OJ fame) related to the billionaire Resnick family?

Good question…also, what about the astronaut, Judy Resnick, that went down on the Challenger ?

Ooof! That sounds bad in retrospect.

And the gov'nor obviously gets money from them to not build new reservoirs.

Is there anyone who believes all the BS isn't created by politicians doing the bidding of billionaires?
I'd be shocked if this Resnick family hasn't given millions to republicans and democrats alike to protect their "investment" regardless of who held current offices.
Is there a politician who ever gets elected without a crew of billionaire buddies behind them?

The whole system is controlled by oligarchs, our "Republic" is a farce.

Judy Resnik was not related.

Desal isn't a golden ticket. It is energy intensive and creates a highly concentrated salt solution that has to be deposed be either discharging into the ocean or injecting it into the ground
Oh my! The horror of having to build a few more power plants and needing to dispose of a salty solution!

Exactly.
The energy requirements are extraordinary.
It would take a real commitment of resources and government foresight to make these a practical realty; California has neither.

The Resnicks are the biggest farmers in California–as of 2007 they owned four San Francisco’s worth of farmland.
And nearly half of Americans buy at least one of their products: Their pistachios, their pomegranate Juice, their mandarins, their flowers
So, at the end of the day, the largest farming company in California, that produces so much it's estimated at least half of Americans are their customers, uses the most water in California.
I'm not going to get worked up over this, even if they got the water through some shady deals decades ago.

It’s who they are. It’s what they do.

Yes, try to shift focus on this to get people to ignore that the state commonly flushes millions of gallons into the Pacific just to overcompensate for the Delta Smelt.
Focus on it also to get people to ignore that the reservoir which would have been the initial primary source for water with which to fight the fire had been offline for nearly a year (solely because of a torn cover).
Also focus on that to get people to ignore that the mayor had cut the fire department's budget by $17M.
And be sure to focus on that so people will ignore that many veteran firefighters were (and still are) canned for refusing the COVID jab.

Elon Musk is gonna spend 15 minutes thinking about it and create a new desalination company named x2o that can effectively fix the water issues in California forever.

I assume it's not precisely the water use that's as controversial as shady deals with governors in the 1990s to privately acquire tax funded public works and then ration water back for public use.
But, yeah, it's far from the worst offender in the never ending saga of "billionaire makes shady deal with governor to increase their profit margins at the expense of taxpayers."

Who eats almonds? One of the worst nuts imaginable. Tastes like lightly flavored cardboard. (Yes, I have tasted cardboard.)
