One Arcata resident was so incensed over McKinley that he protested 26 days straight on the plaza.

Must be nice to have that much PTO socked away.

Pretty awesome. When all the history books are banned, past figures eradicated, language cleansed and speech policed we will all be puritans with no history before 1976.

Our country needs to have a difficult conversation about the scourge that was the Millard Fillmore era.

They'll be sandblasting Mt Rushmore in 20 years.

But if I have it right, residents of a California town that is 80% white are protesting McKinley's apparent support of expansionist policies and the effect on Native Americans.

I bet it’s the whites protesting, too. All they need to do is donate their property to a Native American and then move back to europe.

Sky screamers had long been upset about the tallest mountain in Alaska (and the US) being named Mount McKinley. The Indians were all butthurt about it not being named Denali. So they got Obama to take some time away from gobbling cock and change the name.

McKinley had no connection to Alaska and tbh he was not a very noteworthy president. The renaming was pretty much universally approved by Alaskans of all ethnicities and political persuasions. Trump asked Alaska's two (Republican) Senators if he should reverse the Obama executive order and they emphatically declined.

The cost of removal is a whopping $65,000.

They could have done a lot of good with that money.

Yep these people are amusing. Make no personal sacrifices, expect everyone else to sacrifice.

It's a form of social retardation

But these same people will go nuts if you say Europe should close it’s borders to the third world invaders.

Yep. These people usually live in very economically homogeneous areas too without realizing how the average person lives.

We also really NEED to talk about the utter disaster that was Franklin Pierce and the atrocities that he personally signed off on.

I’d hate to see what they’d do for a statue of Andrew Jackson!

Wouldn't it be cheaper and more appropriate to just assassinate the statue?

Arcata is a small college town. I work at the university.

This is mostly students being students.

That's all I'm going to say.
