He was President during the Spanish-American War. I guess the Philippines, Guam, Puerto Rico, and some other small islands are all offended they became U.S. territories after that.

Westward expansion started decades before McKinley. His main accomplishments was protective tariffs that led to an economic boom, a quick decisive victory over Spain which led to US gaining Guam, Philippines, and Puerto Rico as territories. He annexed Hawaii in 1898. He was a civil war vet for the Union army. He maintained the Gold Standard and rejected a central bank. I fail to see anything remotely controversial...he was a pretty successful president.

Being offended by everything is so overused now that the word "offensive" is losing its real meaning in the same way the word "racism" lost its real meaning in pop culture.

No kidding, so here is what I would do if I'm on the city council.

At the next council meeting, I put forward a motion that we change the name of the town McKinley (there's already a McKinleyville, CA).\

Screw anyone who is offended by a statue or history in general.

Probably not. But they're not being noticed. And that's a problem. And they probably realize they're going to do nothing noteworthy that will get them noticed. So they come up with this. And that actually speaks to about 90% of these protests and these pathetic losers.

Statues and monuments should be banned because every person holds a belief that another finds offensive. We should not have any pride in any accomplishment that a person makes because everyone is actually evil.

Does that even matter...I mean as long as non-racist white liberals are offended for them...

Fwiw everyone in Alaska wanted the name changed and if it hadn’t been for Ohio it would’ve come much sooner. Denali is a way cooler name as well imo.

Denali is a better name. That’s fine.
