Yeah, it's only Fox News:

quote:

For decades, California was the state of opportunity within the land of opportunity. People from east of the Mississippi, lured by California’s exceptional climate, geographic beauty, and economic opportunities, moved there in droves: Its population grew by 10% or more in every decade from 1850 to 2010.

Now, like its famous raisins, opportunity in California looks to be drying up. From 2000 to 2020, California experienced a net loss of 2.6 million people to other U.S. states. Its total population was propped up by natural population increases and strong foreign immigration, but in 2020 foreign immigration decreased and the state’s birth rate continued its steady decline. As a result, California’s total population fell by 182,000 people.

A new study finds that business headquarters are also leaving California, and at an increasing rate. Economist Lee Ohanian of the Hoover Institution at Stanford University and Joseph Vranich, president of the site selection consulting firm Spectrum Location Solutions, collected data on the relocation of California business headquarters from January 2018 to June 2021. As shown in the table below, they documented 265 headquarter relocations over the three-and-a-half-year period, or an average of six relocations per month.

quote:

Some of the more notable companies to leave California during this period are AppleAAPL +1.5% (its America’s headquarters moved from Santa Clara to Austin, TX), Nestle USA (Los Angeles to Arlington, VA), and OracleORCL +0.3% (San Mateo to Austin, TX). The table below shows the most popular destination states, led by Texas, Tennessee, and Arizona.

Dude. It’s a little bit of both. Don’t deny what California’s economy does for the country. You want our economy doing well here because of the production and demand we generate. Just celebrate it as a win on the domestic side.

So, it’s NOT about to be the 4th largest economy in the world?
You rely on Adam Milsap for the notion that Cali is an economic failure?
What are you trying to say?
Please advise?

Yes, companies like Facebook and Twitter are worth billions and billions of dollars. The American economy and society would collapse if these social network behemoths disappeared.

Now do something that really matters and isn’t going to change headquarters: Ag. There is no replacing our production. We produce more milk here in the Central Valley than the entirety of Wisconsin just for one commodity. Same is true for Peaches vs Georgia, Citrus vs Florida and so many other crops it isn’t funny.

That's why California is too big. You can't let a single state get so big and so important that it gets to run the affairs of every other state. Or if it fails, it brings down the whole damn country. It needs to be broken up.

You dispute that CA’s overtaking Germany is due to Germany’s economic collapse? Just look at the damn chart

Truth. This probably also applies to Texas.

That California being the 4th largest economy in the world could be merely a house of cards if companies start to leave and draconian regulations force others to close and more people to leave the state. They have the luxury today of wanting to be a Socialist Green Utopia and electing ideologues like Gavin Newsome, but they're eventually going to have to pay the piper. It's not going to go well for California when that bill comes due. That is all...

Break off most of the central valley and imperial valley into it's own (red) state.

California has been fricking up all of the West with the ports for the past two years. Sorry, I'm a little pissed at California even if I make money from them.

Shouldn't have fought against the USA and killed off their smart jews in WW2.

They'd have a lot more people to pull weight.
