Point being, no one in the south has any room to lecture California on how to spend their tax dollars.

Those of us living in California should have a say how our tax dollars are spent.

These people just regurgitate what Fox and Rush tell them. Compare Alabama's finances and federal money with California and see which one is a true shithole. I'm neither democratic or Republican FWIW.

What about Forbe's?
Cali has over 1.3 Trillion (with a T) in debt and the "profit" they show in their annual budget is just against operating expenses, not pensions and other annual debt forms that should be accounted for.

This board has no clue how hard it is to be middle class and live in Cali

The state has the largest or migration rate in the nation

The only reason population is increasing is because of foreign immigration and births

What about debt?

California does not have a budget surplus

It's the only way to measure it when there's going to be 11,000 boomers retiring per day for a decade. We are so freaking fricked it's not even funny. And just for the record you pretty much just stated that balance sheets don't matter when analyzing financial health. Ouch.

You're missing the point. They have major issues for sure. The poster I was addressing was talking about federal money. That's what I was addressing.

Where did I say that? The post I originally responded to said California is on the brink of bankruptcy. That simply is not true. Are they in a rosy financial condition? Far from it, but then neither is any other state mostly because of unfunded pension liabilities.

Also FTR, I think this law is stupid, but I'm not going to lose my mind over it because I don't live in California and it has little to no impact on my life.

1. Let them spend whatever they want
2. Cut all federal money
3. Let them fill up with illegals

Have fun

It's a very reactionary government (they call it progressive) that seemingly takes everything to extremes but disregards the average guy out there trying to make a living. It seems geared to prodpduce a ruling and subservient class.

California gas some unique features that many states do not enjoy including inate and coastal footprint. They also enjoy the benefit of having so many tech companies. Many of those companies would probably love to leave but fear moving out of the tech state.

Any surplus money is probably not due to their great spending and tax policies.

People who have the least knowledge of economics seem to have the strongest tax/spend ideals.
