Sell California to China. The Chinese have lots of money and are buying everything in America that is up for sale anyway. I rather see them owning California than our oil fields.

They don't like facts. California is nothing but liberal leeches.

Blue areas of red states are moreso welfare consumers outside of West Virginia.
Now if you're talking about federal dollars going to something like military bases, NASA, or federal agencies, sure I can agree with that.

How the hell do you rack up that much in a state deficit?
By having a big state for starters. And a general penchant for overspending combined with a wrecked economy obviously doesn't help.
Also if you look at them vs Texas, Texas isn't really doing that much better on a per capita basis. But more of the Texas debt is at the county or city level where most of the debt in California is at the state level.

You expect the federal government to bail you out when all you’ve done is shun them?? Good luck!

Hey California....... if it wasn’t so damn expensive to live there you may not be having this problem. Y’all could fall off into the pacific and it would not bother me.

Why does this surprise anyone they’re in such dire state?
They’ll no doubt solve this using the same magic math that Kamala Harris used to come up with the brain fart that this country can give away $2000 per month to every resident.

Look at the populations of the south/southeast compared to the west and you'll get your answer.

I thought they abandoned that project?

They did for the most part. The Bakersfield to Merced section is still be worked on, but it is funded through federal $ from the Obama administration. I don't think any state money is going to it at this point, but it doesn't change the fact that a lot did go into a project that will never be finished.

the reason red states pay less in federal income taxes is because red states have low costs of living, which means salaries are relatively lower.
An upper class kansas resident has an income equal to a middle class person from ny, so he is paying less in federal taxes than the nyer.
federal income tax system does not account for differences in cost of living by state.

i always like to bring this up when people talk about red states having poverty.
Blue voters in Red States live in poverty more is the general trend. Obviously that is not always true all the time. There are plenty of conservatives on the government dole.
that's not all the factors... Texas and Alabama get tons of federal money from NASA or huge bases and that can count to federal dollars of "welfare spending" if you want to figure it that way.
the usual point being parroted is that poor rednecks in red states vote for Republicans. That's very true. But the poorest part of red states don't vote republican.
