Battery disposal, nuclear power plants, electric infrastructure construction all will be better for our environment.

Would trucks even exempt? Not every job can be accomplished in an ev.

In a perfect world, EV trucks would actually be more beneficial than diesel due to the instant torque an electric motor provides. However, the question is building a strong enough battery to power the motor. A battery that powerful is going to be crazy expensive and way too heavy.

Electric locomotives on railroads are much quicker and more powerful than their diesel counterparts. Thing is, they’re powered by an overhead catenary as opposed to batteries. Is California going to build catenary over all of its roads?

Why not now? Why not on his watch? it's like he wants the credit, but not the hassle.

What? You can't imagine 20 million Mexicans driving electric low riders?

Newsom’s announcement adds to worldwide momentum this week in the fight against climate change, coming less than a day after China pledged to go carbon neutral by 2060 -- a bold move from the world’s largest polluter that, while still 40 years out, caught environmentalists by surprise

Subsidies. Subsidies for everyone. This is how politicians like Newsom exploit the system.

1) Receive financial contribution from electric car manufacturers for 'election campaign'
2) Raise taxes
2) Pass law requiring purchase of electric vehicles
3) Provide monies back to low-income taxpayers in form of subsidies needed to purchase vehicles
4) Take credit
5) Snort coke and bang hookers with electric car manufacturer CEO and President

Time to invest in massive dealerships at the Arizona and Nevada borders. Or will Cali ban people driving internal combustion vehicles altogether?

They kind of did force you. By making older forms obsolete, then discontinuing them, sort of make us adopt things we might not wish to adopt. But it's still a market and choice thing, we can often go without the newest.

The BIG difference is that the government didn't force us to send millions of VHS tapes to the landfill in favor of DVDs. The market did that. The consumer clearly favored DVDs. The government didn't say, "After X year, you can no longer watch Snow White on your VCR. You must buy a DVD player and the movie on DVD." Hell, if you have a VCR and a VHS copy of Snow White, have at it!
