Yes, because me wanting to go back to work is exactly the same as me not wanting illegal immigrants to increase the burden on our social systems and other resources.

I think the way the whole ‘essential business’ thing was handled poorly. If I have a local sporting goods or running/fitness or golf store but have to go bankrupt because the government won’t let me open while watching people pour in and out of Academy Sports with bags of active wear, shoes, golf equipment, or other clothing then I’m pissed and prob going to jail over it.

If their only open because they sell ammo/guns then that’s the only departments that should be available to the public.

Show me the law saying the state can close all bars, ban movement, do everything they are doing without declaring martial law and then we can talk.

I guess there’s no scenario where opening up bars will result in excessive burden on our social systems or other resources

Just the dumb ones. It’s like stopping at a red light on a deserted road in the middle of the night.

Sure, the law says you have to wait until it turns green...but does that make any sense? Waiting won’t make anyone safer, just inconvenience you. And unless there’s a jackboot or a Karen waiting to snitch on you...what sense does it make to sit there and wait for the light?

Section 361 PHSA

Now you can admit that you just want exclusive rights to pick and choose which laws you should justly follow.

Is this not a federal statute whose authority has been handed over to the director of the CDC? You are responding to a person asking if the state can shut down commerce.

For what it's worth, I don't see how that statute is even constitutional at the federal level or how it'd pass judicial review when looking at its implementation in this country over the last two months.

Good. I'm glad you're starting to think rationally instead of emotionally. Keep it up!

No court has upheld challenges to any similar declaration. The whole “but it’s not a legal order” argument doesn’t really apply unless a court decides that the law is unconstitutional.

To use one of my least favorite retorts: “Illegal is illegal.”

Sorry, neither of these statements are convincing to me. I have a threshold below which I put up with laws I don't like as part of my role in this "social contract", but I also have a moral obligation to not follow a law simply on the merit of "but it's the law".

These laws are not consistent with the civil liberties guaranteed to us in the Constitution and they are beyond the threshold I am willing to tolerate, and I welcome civil disobedience to confront these unjust declarations.

I disagree with your premise here. It isn't whether the bar owners are nice or not. It's whether they are the compliant type (e.g. "sheep"). I think nearly every business owner sees the shutdown as ignorant BS by now. Some comply anyway, some ars saying F it.

So it’s a principled stand against laws you don’t like.

I like that philosophy. I’m going to practice that myself.

So you support illegal immigration then? I mean, they just trying to make a better life...

Or do you only support laws when they align with your opinions?

Here, let me give you the response I gave the other idiot:

Fair enough, so should I say, "rule followers finish last"?
