is Burning Man even cool anymore?

I thought since the celebs and everyone goes now that it is no longer cool anymore

Ran across 10-20 RVs in the Reno Grand Sierra parking lot right after it a few years ago. Never seen filth like that before -- they were encased in sand/dirt.

I figured this thread would be filled with stories about how it's been coopted by someone or bastardized since the early days before everyone discovered it.

Isn't there a new Burning Man type festival that is more like Burning Man was before it became commercialized and overrun with celebrity?

wonder how those rent-an-rv places feel about using them for BM. Probably have a specific clause forbidding them being used for it

I usually go to the bbq fest in sparks Labor Day and the hippies from burning man arrive Monday night. Most of them are dirty and nasty beyond belief after spending all that time out in the desert. That said, there are quite a few hot hippy chicks once they clean up the next day, but there are way more dreadlocked wearing dirty ones.

I remember people bitching last year about this and how it is turning into Coachella, nobody really goes for the festival but just to take pictures proving they were there. Why this bothers other people, no clue

I'd certainly take pictures. Not sure why that ruins a festival. We have one life. I want proof that I lived it...

I wish I could be part of a film crew or something that goes to observe and stays in nice RVs

I'm fascinated by Burning Man

So it has wrapped up.

I am intrigued, but I don't take drugs. I drink instead. Worth going?

Love the British press' dry reporting (ahem) of just the facts.
quote:

70,000 people build a city in a week, burn a giant wooden effigy of a man, and then restore the arid playa to its original state.
Oh, so that's it?
