The most questionable practice ever for Burger King was changing to those thick cut fries they have now. The old fries were ranked among the all-time greats.

No clue how that place stays open, has been horrible since I can remember it being there.

Wendy’s does this too.

Fast food places where their small is a medium, medium is a large, and large is a supersize are shady.

At least McDonald’s holds true to America and still uses the normal small, medium, and large sizes.

I remember when cheese was an add on at FF places...now most meals include cheese but you don't get a discount without cheese.

So do you care about the cost or the portion of food?

Because
1) it's $0.60 who GAF
2) I doubt anyone going to Burger King actually cares about portion size

I thought it was a valid question. Let's assume it wasn't burger king but some other product you purchased that they automatically charged you an upgrade for that you didn't necessarily want or need, no matter the cost.

I had a short hearing in Alexandria yesterday. On return, I went through the BK drive thru (BK on I 49, north side of town).

Huge line of cars, so I figured "this will take some time." Nope. Line moved quickly. Order taker was understandable, they were not out of anything, and I didn't have to repeat anything. My order was promptly and correctly delivered to me by a very friendly young lady.

I don't think monetary value is the point of this thread. You guys miss them quite often though.

Do employees get any sort of incentive if they get customers to up size?

Sort of, they are instructed to present the offer to up size. If they consistently fail to do so, they are reprimanded and maybe eventually fired. So, essentially, the incentive is to have a job or at least a job that does not involve management hassling you.

I went to BK last weekend. I had one of those family coupons in the mail for two whoppers and two cheeseburgers. I have picky kids so I went in to order. Apparently you have to add cheese to a whopper, whopper jr, or double whopper. Everything else on the menu with the exception of the hamburger includes cheese. I forgot all about this and my pregnant wife complained they left it off. I had to fess up that I forgot to tell them to add it.

They did this at Popeyes today too

I agree with the OP that it’s a dirty trick. Should just ask what size you want.

Yeah, BK employees are getting incentives, that's why you always see them working so hard.

So if you order a meal number, you can get... A small drink and small fry? Even at McDonalds? I didn't know this, I just thought that the number meals came with a large drink and fry so if I wanted.. For example.. A quarter pounder, this is what I say "I would like 1 quarter pounder with a small fry and a small sprite". I think there have been a few times when I was asked "for only x amount more you can get a large fry and drink. Would you like to do that?". But with a large fry I would either end up throwing some away or eating more that I really wanted just to not waste them.. So in the future, just be specific when you order.

My dad got in an argument over that. He said "how can you have a fricking medium if there is no small size"

The lady could not understand his point at all. Was hilarious
