Do employees get any sort of incentive if they get customers to up size?

In the past when ordering a meal number, they would say "Medium or Large?", like those were the only options. Most people might say Medium because those are the only options given and they still get an up charge. I would have to stay neither, just give me the small.

Today, they are now just automatically charging the medium. I get to the window and say I don't want the medium up charge, just give me the small. She says all of our meals are medium now. I said well that's just untrue because the price says differently and there is a 60cent upcharge. She cocked an attitude and removed it.

Pretty shady and most people are probably getting Mediums and not thinking twice about it.

I do not, but thank you.

I thought it was a valid question. Let's assume it wasn't burger king but some other product you purchased that they automatically charged you an upgrade for that you didn't necessarily want or need, no matter the cost.

They just assume their typical fatty customers want the bigger size

Get what you are saying that's it's probably not worth any individual customer complaining. But this practice could be worth millions annually to Burger King.

It's a smart practice considering it probably works on most people eating Burger King. I don't blame them for it. It's a trick used by most sales people in most sales industries.

sounds like you should eat at home. Or at least another eatery that doesn't try to rob you blind.

Its a medium drink dude, not your entire 401K. Let it go.

Happens all the damn time, and the last place I would get indignant over it is while buying shitty fast food. You made a conscious decision to eat burger king, you gave away some rights to complain.

Not shady IMO.

In my experience with fast food I expect the default size for any menu item to be a medium.

If I order a number two with sprite I expect to be handed a medium sized drink and fry with my sandwich.

I always recognized a small drink or fry as a kids menu item.

Do i seem bent out of shape? Just brought up a question about something I noticed. If that is how most places are, so be it. Things are slow today so figured I'd bring it to the OT for their expert opinion.

The bigger question is, who repeatedly visits BK?

Except their Medium is a 32oz big drink and when you say "number x" the charged price is more than what the menu says.
