I have to say, that whole project was fairly well executed. Wouldn’t say it blew my mind, but they worked it methodically and it was painfully needed. Even before they throw up Rouses and all that other shite, that intersection was a cluster. Guarantee you it won’t solve the issue but hats off to the guys out there that executed.

With that being said, heard it opened up this morning. Any reports on how things are flowing? This afternoon will be the full test as students flee LSU to their $1800/month apartments.

Those apartments will be in a bind when TOPS is cut

It was all down to one lane last night and it was a shite show. I hope it's finally open, because the traffic on Lee is routinely backed all the way up from Burbank to Highland.

Hopefully they fixed the timing on the lights there. That was the big problem.

Even without that, it’s going to be interesting what happens to that area in roughly 15-20 years once it gets stale and students look for the next nouveau place to live.

I’m encouraged to see some development closer to campus like the one down the street from mellow mushroom. They need to do more of that

I live down that direction and take that intersection multiple times a day. Didn’t go that way this morning, but I’m sure it’s still a clusterfrick.

The problems are mostly caused by the light cycles. Same reason LSU game traffic backs up down Burbank. The real root cause of the issue is really down Burbank a ways with the lights around Mellow Mushroom. Splitting the traffic into 4 lanes just puts more people on Burbank faster. In theory, it’s a good idea, but its really like widening the back end of a funnel.

If they really wanted to make a difference, they’d 5-lane Nicholson all the way past Ben Hur and figure out something to do with the clusterfrick that is Burbank/E. Boyd and Burbank/Jennifer Jean

They need to bulldoze El Cid. That property is worth money probably but not with that shitty complex on it.

Baton Rouge does have synchronized lights. They’re synchronized to make everyone stop at every intersection.

I magically caught no lights on acadian from government to LSU this morning (even got through Perkins/Acadian), think I'll go buy a lottery ticket after work

This...instead of building up Burbank/Lee, put a 5-10 story complex here and keep students from needing to use Burbank/Nicholson all together on most days where their just going to/from class.

Yeah I am also interested in what those apartments become. I live off of Brightside so I hope they don't become slums, but I am tired of the student drivers and the traffic. Also I agree they cannot fix the Brightside/Lee/Nicholson intersection fast enough.

I suspect that Tiger Land and/or the area along Nicholson north of campus will be bought and filled with new student housing over the next few decades once Ben Hur area becomes ghetto (it will).

In 9 years living in BR, I don’t think that feat ever happened for me.
