More children died from covid than school shootings.
Kids with chronic health issues and weak immune systems died because they couldn’t fight a novel virus. A healthy kid was almost certainly more likely to be murdered by a family member than die from covid.

How did you get that from her post?
So it wasn’t just me wondering what I said that implied she was a dumbass? Good to know.
It’s an emotional topic. I get it. It was as bothersome working in a school. But you’re better off questioning how your kid’s school/district handles a potential shooter from a protocol sense down to physical security aspects (like doors, windows, security staff, etc).
It was the same questions we (staff, students, and parents) all asked after a shooting in our own district and got some things changed for the better.

If $200 makes me feel better than so what?

bulletproof binder inserts
Just curious, what level of protection do they offer?

If I had kids and sent them to a public school, they'd definitely have one of these.

Nothing but snake oil salesmen profiting off dead kids and emotional parents. Assuming a shooter decided to attack at a time when your kid even had his backpack on, you'll be going and praying he only has a shot from behind your kids I guess. And I guess also hoping he only fires once with a fairly weak gun, and doesn't hit any parts of the body not protected by the backpack.

HC86, I do apologize. but you have outed yourself on more than one occasion. I will fix that going forward now that I know it bothers you.
As for the stalking thing, that's complete bullshite and you know it. We were at Costco at the same time and I only saw your hubby for a few seconds and that was it. We turned it into a running JOKE, but now you seem to have convinced yourself it wasn't a joke.....sheesh

Why don't you start with the keyboard?

So I did all this research several years ago for my son. Since they aren’t allowed to carry their backpacks around school, I decided to go with the bulletproof binder inserts instead. I bought 2 for each binder so when opened up it covers his entire upper body. Could also be removed from binder and inserted under shirt. Just felt that was a more flexible option.
Solid troll.
Hopefully.

If you were thinking logically, it wouldn’t make you feel better. You’re more likely to scare your kid than anything.

Bullet Resistant Backpacks
How about a few good guys with weapons at every school?
Posted on 3/31/23 at 11:26 am to HoustonChick86
i would think a bulletproof backpack would come with a very heavy steel plate which would result in a much higher probability of back/spine/assorted joint injury to a developing child then the chance of ever needing a bulletproof backpack
just from a probability standpoint

How many school shooting victims have been shot in the back while wearing a backpack over the past few days? My guess is close to zero. You’re really just spending money for your own piece of mind.

I think they are designed to be used as a front shield in an active shooter situation.
However, as I have said in the thread I think they are of limited use.

I guess. My kids booksacks are packed with so much crap that it’ll probably stop a bullet anyway.

I’ve got a little target box I set up in the back yard and shoot at. It comes with a heavy arse plate you slide in the back that the bullets explode on. I couldn’t imagine being an elementary student carrying something that heavy in my back pack all day.
