They require too much care, they can’t breathe , they are probably the least functional dog ever, and they are ridiculously overpriced.

You ain't lying.
I had an ex whose parents got an English. Poor dog was fricked from the get-go. Anytime it ran around for more than a minute it couldn't breathe because it's airway was so small, and it's saliva would thicken and block it's breathing.
We would have to hold it's mouth open and pour lime juice down his throat to break it up.
